Hi, There are quite a few references on the internet about decoding Yamaha part numbers. I found quite good references for fastener decodes with the exception of the fastener finish … chrome, bright zinc , yellow zinc , olive zinc etcetera. The CMSL information is really good … www.cmsnl.com/help/faq/95_yamaha/Does anyone have the decode for fastener finishes please ? All the guides I’ve found so far only say which digits of the fastener part number give the finish but not a list of finishes. Thanks. Cheers Paul |

Could be chrome, unfinished, etc. Not sure one what each digit value stands for.

The important thing for me is to find the actual spec for the fastener so that I don't have to buy a Yamaha part at 5 times the price. I find stainless fittings are fine in every application or black if you prefer and I have zero worry that the original was olive, they look awful anyway compared to polished SS. I use JIS fasteners a lot as they know many of the sizes and will give you identical parts for a fraction of the price. The black countersunk head screws for the lid on the front MC are worth 2P, have a look at the official price.
