Cooling help for a furry radiator

After putting this bike on the dyno to check my jetting it became very obvious that the old radiator i used was not really up to the job.
Not wanting to buy anything new I decided to copy the idea I used to help the GMX radiator cool better.




I had some 2mm ally sheet so decided to use that.
First I tried to visualise it.





After I visualised it, it was time to make a model. It was made with some extra stiffeners just to hold it in shape





This was then checked against the bike and adjusted where necessary.




Then the sheet metal version was made and fitted.




The cowling brought the engine temperature roughly down 7 degrees.
At 65 degrees it's still a bit too warm so I will be looking into fishing the radiator.
I'm not sure if there are any chemicals out there for this work. I only know of radiator flush that you can buy at a auto factor's
Any suggestions will be greatly recieved.

Thanks Alex, I might even try to get a carbon fiber version made. That could be more dream than intention though.

Look up using acetic acid to clean aluminium radiators.

Hi , get yourself some citric acid crystals and mix with warm water . I have used it to de scale kettles , and have also used it to de rust fuel tank interiors motorcycles and cars .Also i noticed the fins are not in the best condition i am sure you can buy these to refurb the rad .

Yeah the fins will get a good look at as well.

Be careful with acetic acid, if you think vinegar smells like vinegar...

The burn soon clears out your nostrils 😆
