I'm looking for some advice about my newly rebuilt 1981 350LC.
Everything is back together ok with the carbs having been vapour blasted and new jets, floats etc fitted. Standard jets and all set to factory settings. The only change would be that I've a pair of LC mid range exhausts as sold by Mutts Nutts rather than standard exhausts.
The bike will star and tick over and rev all day long but as soon as you try to ride it it just cuts out.
I raised the needles by one clip and it would run ok to about 4k revs then seemed to choke out.
I'm pulling my hair out that's its something simple that I'm missing.
If anyone has any advise!!!

Have you got the carb. slides with the cutaways facing the air filter?

When you had carbs vapour blasted were the brass balls taken out at same time as the emulsion tubes and the air correction circuit cleaned? If not thats my guess.

Thanks for the responses. Carb slides are set up so I can see the two holes that show they are balanced. That should be ok. Brass balls were taken out and grub screws fitted. All the airways were cleared. I've just re cleared them this week.
Checked all the jets and all clear. The carbs are the later standard 4L0 01 MIC carbs with 22.5 pilot jets and 220 main jets. The jet needle is in the mid notch and the floats are set correctly.

which needles are fitted and which needle jets (the brass bit the needles side into), if they are pattern parts (yambits etc), then they could be the problem, the correct needle is 5K1 for those carbs with a 345-p0 or 345-p2 needle jet (both work equally well)

The Carb refurbish kits came from Norbo and have brass air screws. Same with the needle jets. Am I best getting gen replacements from Fowlers etc?

I found a couple of steel air screws and the carb replacement kit from Norbo seems fine. I'm going to strip the crabs down again and re clear all the vents etc.
After that I'm just going around in circles....
