Kel was of my era. I saw him many times in what were called the continental circus  races where all of the world's top riders rode on short circuits most weekends outside of the GPs which were very infrequent then. I rated him a step down from Hailwood (and who wasn't?) who'd stopped racing when Kel won big time but he was a great rider in an era of great riders, great bikes and superb racing. I see it as very much the Golden era of racing. Good article btw.
