Getting to the end of the build and I'm having trouble getting a good seal on these exhausts to stop it blowing a small amount. ] Currently using standard YPVS copper gasket and sealent. But I'm fairly sure it's blowing a little, as there's that annoying ticking sound and I can just make out a small amount of smoke exiting around the centre of the cylinders. Anyone have any experience of fitting TSA pipes specifically? Pictures of the specific pipe here. Am I missing any fittings (apart from springs)? flic.kr/p/2pKBxBhflic.kr/p/2pKCHmhNever had issues with sealing pipes before

But I'm fairly sure it's blowing out a little from between the cylinders. Anyone have any experience of fitting them and found a better way? I told you, you should sell those pipes to me and save yourself a load of hassle Ian

This is the process I go through. From a post a couple of years ago. I have Microns on my YPVS and have managed to get them to seal. Firstly get yourself a set of copper gaskets, those fibre ones crush into weird shapes. Secondly get some high temperature sealant, something like this www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134098202666?epid=652780756&hash=item1f38e0302a:g:XQAAAOSw2gFiZ9XETo install the pipes I put plenty of sealant on both sides of the copper gasket and stick it to the barrel, then finger tighten the exhaust flange to hold it in place. Then I slide on the pipe and align it correctly at the back, and tighten up the flange nuts. I then remove the pipe and put more sealant on the flange stub, slide the pipe back on and tighten the rear nut and bolt. smooth any excess sealant around the join. Fit the springs and then leave it for at least 24 hours to let it cure. It's a bit of a rigmarole but it works for me.

As an alternative I use this on my slip on pipes and also with the copper crush rings. 100% sealed so far and easily dismantled if need be.

Is the small amount of smoke definitely from the pipes or could it be puffs coming out from the inner power valve seal(s)? The latter can easily be mistaken for a blowing exhaust.

Glad you asked that, as I was worried it was the PV seals also.
The motor was rebuilt by a pro a few years ago and I'm the first person to run it from dry , so I'm hoping the seals are good. Done around 25 (slow) (miles) over a couple of runs and the powervalve around the barrel looks very clean and I can't see anything that would lead me to think it's blowing from there or even loose. Can't really confirm that 100% unless I remove the barrels which is a pain, its only just started doing it after the road run (had been fine on static runs)

Yes it was Rob Pemberton Spa Motorcycles I don't know the name personally, but I'm sure someone here will and be able to verify if he's a good 2 stroke builder. Looking at the Spa Motorcycles website, it seems Rob has been a bike mechanic since the eighties so he likely knows his way around powervalve engines.

He's well known and I've spoken to him. Kenny/TSA have kindly sent me a few hints so going to have another go at fitting the TSAs 🤞
I'll post the process if it works

He's well known and I've spoken to him. That's good then, at least you have confidence the engine was actually built by someone who knows his stuff rather than, as is often seen, "a mate who's really good with engines"
