Brother's PV build fix/makeover

Hi

My brother has an RD 500 kick start he wants to use on the pv, we had a spare Kickstart shaft we stripped down and I managed to get it in my lathe to drill the end out 6.8 for an M8 thread, they are hard as hell but I managed it, then tapped it. I'm going to make a nice chunky washer to hold the kickstart on 🙂

Waiting for the powder coat man to come back from holiday we can then get the frame done and few other bits .
In the meantime I turned up a chunky alloy washer for the rd 500 kicker ,I counter bored the hole so the dome head sits flush , should look lovely when polished up and the kick start knuckle is plated .

I did mine the opposite way, using a washer (off a KTM) on the the part of the (drilled) knuckle.

Little more on the rd 500 kicker .

The knuckle is in X2 parts I think this is so you can move the kicker out of the faring to start it , anyway we don't need that so I shaped it up and welded the two bits together so it's now one part . This will be powder coated black .

Brother took the kicker and shaft away and he's fitted it into the engine and all is well , will have a final polish up later on happy days 🙂

Hi .

I popped in to see bro on the way home from work,he's been busy building the bike up ,all the bits are back from powder coating except the top yoke,that didn't come out to well so it's being done again so for now bro stuck a spare gsxr 400 top yoke on just to get the forks in .

He has really cracked on with it and it's looking lovely, pipes going on tomorrow + carbs , hopefully might see the top yoke in the post so bars can go on .

yes it's the light dusty it was getting dark when I took them the frame isn't as dark as it looks 👍🏻

Hi

Bro sent some pictures over , he's got the pipes on , the end cans need a polish up before they go on job for this weekend.. he also has 2 huggers stock rgv and a carbon one . The hugger is a bit bulky looking to go with the rd! he feels it would look better cut back so he masked up the plastic one and cut it around until he was happy then cut the carbon one back we think it looks lovely.
The top yoke is back so hopefully the bars will go on this weekend and all the controls . 👍🏻

Hi . I went over to Bros to help him fire it up ,, he's fitted bars clocks etc and everything seems good and working, I bled the pump up mixed up some petrol/ oil mix and she burst into life ,3rd kick 🦵🏻 nice !! .
Brake lines next few little jobs , waiting on paint now .. Chris
