They are still available, but will come from Germany, so expect prices will rise due to shipping costs from Europe

Not sure where manufacturing is now (owned by Cooper Tire and Rubber in USA) but bound to cost more due to extra transport/import costs. BT46 is an alternative (use them on all my GTs and RDs)

Think Avons will now be made in Germany, apparently there is no problem with supply at all.

I was never a fan of their tyres for bikes or cars, which irked me as I was so close to the factory in Melksham when i was in the uk.
I had some of their tyres fitted to a company car i had, were like driving on ice. scary... if a little bit fun, as it was RWD. lol

I don't think there's any connection between then and now, I hope. I've fitted some to my LC wheels so with a lot of luck I may find out this year.

Its a shame in my view, more jobs syphoned off to the EU and elsewhere with big support grants thrown at them to move production to Europe or Asia. As mentioned above the Avon Roadrunners were lethal tyres, 80's finest non grip rubber however I have the RoadRider 2's on a couple of bikes and can't fault them, I also have the AX7 cross climate tyres on my Transit Custom and they are also very good grip wise and are lasting very well, previous Goodyears and Michelins would be worn out now, the AX7's are not 50% worn yet.

It would be difficult to ride my R1 like I stole it for more than about 20 seconds or so without being killed. The SR125 I could ride all day as if I'd stolen it and no one would notice much. Police wouldn't stop me because I wouldn't have a helmet on, just a scarf over my face and my hoodie up. A lot of the time I would be riding on the pavement and I would have one of my mates on the back. The coppers would drive past and pretend they hadn't seen me then stop someone for doing 33 in a 30. Am I taking this 'riding like I stole it' a bit too literally?
