Hi all Iām currently collecting parts for a hybrid build for Frenchy front end is sorted picked up a complete VJ21 front end. Advice needed on the rear wheel is there an alternative to the VJ22 17 inch rear wheel from another Suzuki due to the fact the VJ22 wheel seem hard to come by my plan is to use a Metchamex for a VJ22 rear wheel Thanks Dex

I've used both gsxr400 and gsf400 rear wheels
The brake disc offset is different though you need a custom caliper carrier to work with the vj22 set up
I had a few made but the engineer I used has retired now
Personally I'd get a torque arm mounting point welded on the bottom of the arm when they make it and use the gsxr/gsf set up
The thing with hybrids is you will need to adapt bits as not everything will be plug and play
Will need sprocket carrier machining too

If its plug and play its boring really, its why many of us build different bikes every time.

Cheers have been looking at them two options šš Not ruled out a VJ21 rear but tyre choice is restricted

I'm swithering whether to use an 18 inch rear on a future hybrid build. Think I need to scratch an FZ750 running gear build if I could find a front end
Bridgestone now do a decent 140 radial but let's face it a roadsides or BT46 would suffice
I started with a vj22 wheel but got rid of it over concerns about the brittle sprocket carrier. Will be no problem on an LC but on higher tuned stuff they broke around the sprocket mounts
Vj21 uses the same carrier

I've got a spare 21 wheel and hub. I used a 21 in the Cafe bike build, and visually the spoke pattern is the same as the 21/22 front. I got Garry at Metmachex to make the swingarm for the 21's torque arm and brake set up as that is different to the 22's. This is Vj21 with a standard rear brake caliper, integral with the carrier; 20220312_161317 by dusty miller, on Flickr This is a 22 wheel, with a Tyga carrier and Brembo caliper -no torque arm as the carrier locates on a peg on the inside of the arm; 20220326_110018 by dusty miller, on Flickr

Different bike Zig. The first pic is the Cafe bike with the Tzr kicker, the second pic is the 400 hybrid with a standard but polished kickstart lever
