So, picked up this project last year and working out what to do with it … original or hybrid, if original how much to improve it…. www.flickr.com/gp/198995947@N08/d2cBc37M4dIn the end it’s a good start for a reasonably stock resto - it’s an RD350LC retro downgraded to a 250. It has matching 350 serial numbers. Including removal of disc, barrels etc… I actually came across the bike after I found the barrels. I knew they were hard to come by and a fellow mentioned the barrels while I was sourcing parts for another project. Anyway, I picked up the RD350LC motor that was in an IT175 frame. Then before I took delivery of the motor, the bike appeared on gumtree here in Australia. It was a 250 with 350 barrels… it was fate. Then the following week a set of calipers, master cylinder, lines & splitter appeared. Fate again…. Since then parts have just been showing up… a new tank, various bits and pieces… also a second set of calipers and originalldiscs… I have checked them but they’ll probably be updated to new ones. I’ve been researching and ordered a TSA pipe. Also oil pump refurb I’m in line. Picked up a set of yz85 Vforce reed blocks. I’ll put in a programmable ignition, a set of high performance banshee coils appeared… and a few other bibs and bobs… Anyway, not too far away from kicking it off… m You’ll see my old 250 I had back in 1992… loved that bike… it had 350 barrels and would pull 210kph on the Speedo… don’t know why, maybe the sprockets were set for high speed… but it was a blast… You’ll see the motor I picked up has been massacred to fit in the it175 frame but the barrels are 0.5mm over… so a good pick up.

That's a great little story, and a good starting point, sometimes things just work out, looking forward to seeing it progress

I’ve never built a completely standard bike. My KR F2 is the closest.I just prefer hybrids.
However, in this case as you’ve been dealt a lucky hand I’d say standard with minimal mods (pipes etc).
