There is an excellent engine rebuild thread in the restorations/rebuilds section, by Dusty, a well respected forum member on here. Why not have a look and perhaps tackle the job yourself if confident enough?. It’d also be very satisfying and you’d have peace of mind, knowing exactly what has been done.

I'm not sure what engine builders are charging these days, probably £200-300 ish, and then expect to spend between £1000 to £1300 on parts/rebore etc if my last few rebuilds are to go by.

Cheers, I already have an Lc which isn’t matching numbers, I have just bought a matching numbers project so I plan to strip the project get frame powdercoated and strip and rebuild bottom end and put top end from my existing LC on the project matching numbers bottom end and the swop everything from existing Lc into matching numbers frame and engine. Hope that makes sense

Remember that price won't include anything cosmetic
Vapour blasting and painting will only add to it

If you know a spanner from a screwdriver, then rebuilding these motors is pretty straightforward. Rebores, cranks etc are all obtainable, so it's just a disassembly/assembly job really and potentially very rewarding too.
The real plus is that you'll get a really good understanding of the bike.

Yes agreed nice easy engines to work on only special tools needed are flywheel puller and clutch basket tool everything else is just standard hand tools👍

I can see the attraction of dropping it off and just waiting for a call to go back and collected it. I've no idea on cost but for me personally with the number of bikes I have that need doing and the amount of work needed on them I have a feeling I would have to re-mortgage the house to pay for it all If I had enough cash to pay out for the work without wincing then I'd probably have enough to retire and then do the work myself anyway. I stripped the R1 gearbox and replaced a load of parts. The biggest hurdle or mental blockade for me was stripping it enough to drop the engine out. You've already past that hurdle.

Probably £250ish to strip and rebuild if everything's OK in there, add about £50 for crank seals (might as well change them regardless so you know they're good).
