Well I thought to myself last night no more smokin’ & drinking in 2024. Time to change and get fit, weigh less, do more charity work and generally be a saint… So after a WattBike session first thing, I am pleased to say that I lasted until after midday to open the fizz having already been outside for a quick smoke. HNY LC folks!!✊💨💨

My New Year’s resolution is to do more riding I used to do 15-20,000 miles a year on the bike now I’m lucky to do a 1000. Stopped drinking 2 1/2 years ago apart from at the Manx I happily do 51 weeks of the year apart from there. Still fagging it though.

My resolution is to crack on with the Tigcraft project and on a personal front get back to fitness and eat a more healthy lifestyle
(Don’t really drink and not a smoker but just got a bit “lazy”)
Was a keen cyclist and completed the LEGOG in 2016 but then got serious ill
Plan is to get back on a bike and generally look after myself better
Lastly not really happy in the job at the moment (been there 17 years) so got my first “real” interview on the 12th (passed the first stage) and if it works out most likely if I get the position will result in a house move hopefully back out into the “woods” as job is in Cambridgeshire (Ely)but currently live in Swindon
Hope you all have good year all
Best wishes Al

I'm 73, stopped drinking this year and reaping amazing benefits so my main resolution is no change in "lifestyle". From a biking point view I'm almost in heaven, I have 6 classics from the 60's and early 70's that I use (see later) and have "found" the YPVS after having missed it on the way here. I have two now, one to finish restoring from boxes of garbage and a beauty to use. My only resolution this year, and I have to be careful with resolutions that could fail, is to ride more as I'm suffering from lazy old biker syndrome of less and less riding. My plan for next season is to clean all of my old bikes meticulously and use them, not in the rain, but no excuse of "too cold". My good gear should fit me again when I get back home as should the thermal layers I bought when I was slim and did many miles and I must never shun riding because I can't be bothered to put it on.
in terms of resolutions, never set them unless you have a good chance of succeeding because failure is always disappointing.
Best wishes to everybody in terms of their lives and especially in terms of their riding. Bad times could be ahead this year and riding is the solution, riding 80's and before bikes is the top solution. Modern bikes are simply staggering but too heavy, too tall and usually too high at the seat. Most of all they are far to fast for the reality of UK riding, most of all though they are boring to own and depreciation traps.

I would like to retire but got to get my son thru uni first To be honest when we move to wherever want a pad big enough to have a CNC lathe and mill that would then be my retirement fund as well as the 3d printing as don’t see myself as a armchair and slippers person

I just bought some original BSA aluminium castings that I need to machine. Was thinking a bull nose cutter & my rotary table would do it not having a CNC to hand to get the head profile. We've put two through University & school before that - expensive things kids!

We've since recovered and have to say all a very good investment. My son is a Chartered Accountant in the smoke & my daughter a recently qualified Architect - they'll be well placed to look after us as I think after I've spent all my money on bikes!!

Yes France was planned but wife started to get cold feet and wants to be close to Logan for now while he starts uni and started to think about her mum too. Never mind, looking forward to the interview and the new job possibility as change like this is aways a positive thing for me. Best wishes Al.
