Have fitted 2022 yzfr125 swinging arm and rear wheel into my 350 ypvs f2. Wondering if anyone that has done this had any problem getting chain alignment right. What direction have you taken. Outrigger front sprocket or milling something off the rear sprocket mount . Any info much appreciated.

Hi
Offset front sprocket is the usual route
The 125 shouldn't have that wide a chain run so no big nightmare
Best get the back end on then check the chain run
NK racing will sort you with a 4.5 or 9mm offset 520 sprocket

In an ideal world you should keep the offset sproket to a minimum. If you can get away with a 4.5mm offset sprocket and machine the rear carrier so the chain run is free of the tyre than that’s a better outcome than using the biggest offset sprocket to do the job.

Clamp a straight edge to the outside face of the rear sprocket - I have a length of ali that I use, that is long enough to run up to the front sprocket. You can then measure how far off the front sprocket the straight edge is. It will also highlight any fouling of frame tubes, tyre etc. Then you will be able to work out what you need to do. Obviously make sure your wheel is aligned before measuring !

Profi Cat alignment laser works best if you do this often enough as its not cheap.

Profi Cat alignment laser works best if you do this often enough as its not cheap. I've been using the chain monkey ones at about £30 False economy as I'm on my 3rd Before the first set of batteries are flat the laser usually starts playing up and fades after about a minute Thought my first was just a duffer but the second one went the same. Only bought a third as I was in the middle of needing it when the second went tits up and there was a £20 one on ebay Steve

I have a Profi Laser gadget and it's good.
I agree with the principle that the least offset is the better option with the engine sprocket. If you can gain some clearance with the rear hub then good & double check you have the rear wheel central in the swinger too (assuming it's not asymmetrical that is).

Also turn the wheel 90 degrees and do the alignment check again. Do this 4 times so yo can see any discrepancies in the rear sprocket carrier.
