Yes, they will copy anything, check drills, sanders, planers, routers, phones, electronic components, vacuum cleaners, toasters, kettles.... ad infinitum! Now check these things in your own possession. Just bought an outside light from one of the big tool retailers... Chinese... as a lot of their stuff most likely is. Sometimes they dont need to copy though... as the manufacturing know how has left these shores and relocated............ (sold out for a better word)
At the mo, I would buy Mitaka. I remember the days when "Jap Crap" was banded around all too much.

Agreed Steve. Plenty of offshoring of the making of many products the past 50 years.
Along with the oft cited iphone, that bastion of perceived quality that is Swiss watches, are not immune either. All the major brands have factories there... 'Swiss Made' is actually a defined minimum percentage and often is really 'Swiss Assembled'. *
We still get a lot of BS here in Aus from local suppliers about 'Chinese Junk' (sic) and how their own products on the shelf are better etc... but they are often the same product and even made in the same place, just with different packing. Lies are easily told etc.
So many good things made in China, but sadly also a lot of crap. Navigating your way through the mire is the clever bit.
* - "In sum, a watch is considered Swiss when it has been developed in Switzerland, it uses a Swiss movement, is assembled and controlled in Switzerland by the Manufacture d'horlogerie and when 60% of its manufacturing costs are Swiss." hmmm 60% of the costs.... yes the damn costs! sigh.

Remember the TG trip to China? Fake everything. Some Chinese company bought a BMW X5 (why?) and cloned it. An exact replica, you could change the parts from one to the other. BMW sued...and lost.

Yes the Chinese copy everything, but so did the Japanese back in the day, monoshock suspension?didn't Vincent do that, honda linked braking system, rudge did that pre war,at least the Japanese did care about quality and have a proper QA system, unlike the Chinese but they are slowly getting better??

Remember when if you wanted a quality car you bought German, now the "most reliable" list is mainly Japanese and Korean cars.
Wife has a Kia and I can't fault it, 7 year warranty!
Chinese manufacturing and quality control has improved tremendously in the past few years. It won't be long before they are as good, if not better than European versions.

Yes everyone moans about China but they have now realised quality counts and they are getting slowly better. Got all this made for Alex’s Mito project and the Tigcraft bike and total was under £280 that includes shipping at £70 Also no drawing needed just the STEP model files as they are CAD / CAM so time from receiving the models to shipping was two weeks😎 There is no way could get all these parts made in the UK for less than £500+ and maybe a lead time of 6weeks plus as it’s all one of parts unless I did them myself (if I had time) Best wishes Al

Hi Alex Yes it was fast and even added another part as a late request as needed to design a part that fits over the lock stops on the Mito lower yoke to “grow” the stops so they work with the Tigcraft lock stops already welded on the headstock. As I am away over Xmas parts will be posted in the new year to avoid any missed deliveries and I can then post on your parts once delivered. Best wishes Al

I'm not sure that they copy parts but that companies in the West give them designs to manufacture at much reduced cost. It's called globalisation and one of the aims is totransfer our so called carbon emissions to China while eliminating manufacturing jobs in the UK.

Think eliminating manufacturing jobs in the UK has been happening since the late seventies it's a miracle there's any of us left!!😁

Think eliminating manufacturing jobs in the UK has been happening since the late seventies it's a miracle there's any of us left!!😁 Many think that Thatcher caused it but it's far from the truth, she realised globalisation was going to happen and acted accordingly. She was wrong in believing that we could replace manufacturing with service industries though. I'm not saying she was right only supporting your late 70's point, that's when it really started world wide.

Tried not to mention Thatcher as she did get a lot of japanese investment over here ,mazak at Worcester as an example, but yes the general consensus was that the service sector would replace manufacturing and Labour were no better than the Tories.

I was just looking at a neighbors Tesla Model Y, made in China.
You always got plenty of panel gap for your money, but this is taking the piss.
It looks like the whole rear quarter has had a shunt, what a shed.

I've revived an old post about the "nibbi"range of carb made in china .
They look really nicely made and I wonder if anyone has made them work ?
Obviously the 15 dollar pwk copies are junk, but these look ok .
