Wiring loom material source

Hi all

As side project for the Tigcraft bike as I now have all most of the ancillary parts (ignition switch handlebar switch gear lights indicators horns etc) going to start to think about making a bespoke wiring loom from scratch and found this on eBay that has more than the 12 required colours should anybody else be in my position.

Hi Al,

You might know already, but if not, you can also buy cable by the metre in your choice of colour(s), either solid or with tracer, from Vehicle Wiring Products in Ilkeston.

32 metres of 1mm (16.5amp) from them including postage would be £18.50, £30.85 for 2mm (25amp) or £44.42 for 3mm (33amp).

They're a great bunch of guys to deal with too.

+1 on these guys. I’ve been using them for more than 30 years before the Internet. Proper old school. You used to flick through a paper catalogue and phone them up to order.

Whilst they now have online ordering, I crashed the thing twice putting in a big order for a wiring loom with 30 or so different items. I phoned them up to ask what the problem was and they were more than happy to take a telephone order in this day and age. Not everywhere still does that, or indeed have a telephone contact. The guy couldn’t have been more helpful.

They're only half an hour from me and have a lovely little quaint trade counter.

I've visited them countless times for electrickery stuff and they're always pleasant and helpful, nothing's too much trouble.

They're also very knowledgable regarding electrics and happy to give free advice if you need any guidance.

I've still got one of their paper catalogues somewhere - great firm to deal with

Older OEM cable was more like the standard PVC cable they do, but I go for the thin wall cable which is the modern spec.

I ordered lots of connector blocks & proper Japanese size terminals from VWP online, great service & even sent a proper paper catalogue with the order.
Far better than looking online.
