dusty350 I’ve thought this before reading other magazine articles, that it would be a good idea to include the date. The price has virtually doubled. Jon

They’ve changed the tune a bit on custom work I think? I had a set of custom made pipes 8 years ago (yes it’s really that long and I still haven’t finished the build!) for one of my projects. I took the rolling chassis up and they built a set of pipes around it. Really nicely tucked in and plenty of ground clearance. Anyway a year or two later I asked if they’d build a set for another project and they simply weren’t interested in doing anything but a standard Allspeed style pipe?

They seem to have enough demand producing the Ac/Lc/Pv pipes, amongst others, that they almost dont need the work ? I guess if demand for those models dried up, they would have to consider other work. Some of the mags - Mechanics especially - have the date on the bottom of the pages. I did think about adding dates but I was scanning 10 mags at a time which was a bit of a mission, and couldn't be arsed to add dates if I'm honest.

I guess it’s their business and if they can make enough money doing the standard stuff then why not? In a way I’m pleased as I ended up going to Martin Johnson for a pair of pipes, and they are simply lovely.

Yea, plenty of other people doing pipes that are cheaper, work better, lighter and have much nicer welds, and have a quicker turn around time. My Alonze stainless pipes on the Cafe bike were 10 days from order to delivery. My Allspeeds were 10 weeks, but to be fair 8 weeks of that was chroming backlog, the pipes were made after 2 weeks. Chroming costs, due to new legislation, has pushed prices up - a pair of chrome small cans is a fiver under 800 quid now, last time I looked anyway. Still expensive for old tech, but they do look ace on an Lc
