Might be easier to find an old frame with V5. Any YR5 or AC would do :-) Get it MOT'd then tax it as Historic...

Agree with above, its what I've done with the TR
Get a frame with V5, register as historic, cut headstock off and keep to prove you own the original frame/VIN and that the original frame the ID belonged to is destroyed and can never go on the road
Use VIN/reg/v5 for the tigcraft frame
Either stamp with the number or get a stamped alloy vin plate off ebay and rivet on
I also didn't MOT before changing to historic. In fact the donor wasn't registered in the UK so I applied with a v55 as normal and sent an MOT exception form. Came back with uk v5 as historic
Declare frame change to insurance

Hi both
Yes I still have a 1980 RD350LC V5C on a Sorn as for the Yellow Peril as frame was scrap when I bought the project so reframed the bike using a bare German frame and cases on a nova and then once rebuilt just registered the bike as an import and then cut the frame up but kept the logbookπ
So maybe as the frame is not stamped may go this routeππ
Either way still need a V5C as even with the MSVA you in theory need a donor bike but think is time to apply for historical regπ
Thank guys Al

Just checked the V5C and for manufacturer it just says Yamaha but no model listed π
Also cc is 347cc
Happy days I think with a trip to the Post office with the V5C and a V112π

Hi Al I wanted a small light to go in the tail of the Tz seat unit on the Cafe bike. I got one from Digital Speedos; 20200421_092948 by dusty miller, on Flickr 3 small LED's in it. It's a rear light and a brake light too, and the brake light will melt your eyeballs, it's so bright ! Think there are plent of options nowadays for LED lights Dusty

Meant to add I cut the hole in the tail very carefully with a Dremel and the light was a tight fit. Obviously there is no way to fit a bracket of any kind to keep it in place, so some sellotape kept the light flush with the tail unit so it couldn't move, and I used builders expanding foam squirted inside the tail. Wiring was also taped out of the way so wires are free to be connected, and the foam can be trimmed, is super light, and doesn't allow the light unit to move at all. Might be ideal for your seat unit Dusty
