Hi all My LC floods and overflows when the tap is on full. I use it for track days only and it will do 2 laps max before it splutters to a halt. I’ve had the carbs apart so many times and the floats are moving without any obstruction. I’ve run out of ideas. But I did notice the fuel tap filter is a bit perished. Any ideas or a contact for someone that could look at it for me would be appreciated. Cheers

Where are you located?

Have you replaced the needle valves and seats, what about the o-ring, is that new, and you didn't pinch it I hope when fitting, a very easily done school boy error, or some corrosionwhere it sits.
Always worth putting some Autosol on a cotton bud and polishing the seat and the needle tip, solved many a leak for me, even on new items.
Make sure you clean out any residual polish and take the seat out before you start.

Hi. I haven't replaced the valves and seats but have had them out so many times and they look fine. I have some spare so will replace and see what happens. Thanks for the pointer.

I assume you’ve set the float heights correctly?

You say fuel tap filter looks a bit perished Could debris be getting through, is the tank rusty inside

Hi. I haven't replaced the valves and seats but have had them out so many times and they look fine. I have some spare so will replace and see what happens. Thanks for the pointer. Try polishing them as I posted earlier, you have nothing to loose and it just might solve your problem. It definitely sounds like needle valve problem to me, leaking needle valves or seat or o-ring problems always allow too much fuel into float bowl, which in turn gives a richer mixture, as the bike warms up the mixture becomes far too rich, as a hot engine needs weaker mixture than cold one, and then bike comes spluttering to a halt once hot Also worth looking at your plugs colour once it stops, if black then most likely too rich, if white too lean, should be brick brown ideally or maybe a bit lighter for a track bike, depending on state of engine tune. And no one can help put you in touch with someone local that can help you if you don't tell us where you are in the world.

As above, either fuel valve/seat poor or got silt in or float height incorrectly set.

tony2stroke - the running problem is exactly as you have put it. I'll have another look at the valves this weekend. I checked the floats previously and they're not leaking. There was rust and crap in the tank but I thought I'd gotten most of that - there never seems to be any debris in the bottom of the bowl when I take the carbs apart. Thanks for all your help so far.
