Why dont you just put them up here first? no ebay fees to pay if nothing else, plus they then go to your community.

Box marked ‘25 clock faces’… can only assume that’s top clock covers? If so and they were 4L0, I’d be on the list for one of those.
So Norbo the Mikado … better put me on his list !

I have over 150 clock faces i put them all in 2 big boxes the same with over 150 discontinued ypvs rear muddies about 50 odd lc centre strands . LC side panels and tail pieces i have no idea but boxes full of them front and rear air cooled muddys . ypvs rear shocks again must have over 50 . LC lock sets as well found a load of them . i haven't gone threw any of them all only the clocks and muddys and centre stands did i take the time to separate and box up and count the rest i just left them mixed in with the other stuff that was in the same box. But what ill do is stick 1 on e bay to see what they will fetch then thats what ill ask as i have no idea what this stuff sells for as most haven't been about for some time .

Am I being daft here or will the price it sells for on ebay not be inflated due to them thinking a rarely available part has surfaced and not that someone has 150 to sell

I have seen the UK style clock covers selling for £500 plus.
Don't flood the market or you will loose out.
And if that's what they sell for, then that's the going rate.
Like it or not, that's market forces, and that dictates the value.
Let's not rip off our host aye.

We assuming they are original 4L0 type with English text only. If they are the later ones with some Japanese text these are still readily available for £65-70. In either case, hope they haven't sprung open as per a recent thread on here.

If they are UK ones, 150 covers at £500 plus ea is at least £75,000 If Norbo gets full price for his stock, then he may not need to sell his bike, think about that too.

Am I being daft here or will the price it sells for on ebay not be inflated due to them thinking a rarely available part has surfaced and not that someone has 150 to sell Steve Yes agreed. Pricing is about supply and demand. Since the supply dried up the prices went up, if 150 are available then the price goes down. In this case, the supply wasnt quite dry, it was in a loft lol Ebay pricing of the first one would probably give you the top of the market price, the rest would be worth less than the first one. Less bidders going forwards does that generally. Ive ebayed multiple of rare things (in another hobby) and as buyers find what they want they dont bid next time, this means the price drops for subsequent items. Not always the case, but less buyers = less demand etc Ask any of the LC parts traders and they will tell you that you can wait for top dollar for items and you could be leaving most of them in your will, sensible prices and watching the market is how to do it. I'd have thought you'd be the one person who does know what parts for our bikes cost Norbo, its your main business isnt it?

Jon Yep, the longer you keep stuff the prices will go down. Less restorations and less old blokes misty eyed about 2 strokes will do that. I do wonder how many LCs there are left to be restored now? we have more on the road now than ever. This is the dilema that the makers of the all the parts have and probably why we dont (yet?) have YPVS tanks... Its what the LC tank sellers had to ponder etc. How many do you make to get the price down vs how many will you store and for how long. Its why parts often are only made in one batch, twice at most. Think RD500 cranks, various people's attempts at c/stands etc Weve seen many parts that come and go in batches. In this scenario; if you have 50 center stands and did them for 100 quid i bet they would probably sell out in 2 years, but at 400 quid you'd sell a couple only a year. Not everyone is looking for big money. A few years ago when Fowlers found a box of YPVS F2 rear shocks they sold em for the Yam parts book price, about £89. They sold out. I guess they didnt want them sitting around for ever and the accounts told them that they paid minimal money for em all those years ago. Anyway, Norbo is a business and he knows what hes doing. He's been running that biz for 40 years or so. Hes proved he understands supply and demand pricing Perhaps really he's just having some fun with us. We all know he has a vast stock of parts as every one of us on here has bought from him over the years. Reminding us that he is the man with the parts we need is good business sense really. I look forward to seeing these parts come available. If priced well they will sell well. If he paid minimal money for them then he can afford to sell them cheaper than some others do and he can set the price to help keep bikes on the road etc etc. His stock, his choice. As ever.

It's still a very small amount of discontinued stock with the likelihood of no more once sold, and let's not forget that there has been another batch of tanks made through demand, all the parts are subject to wear and tear creating demand, and there are lots of LC's in the UK, this site is only a very small part of the LC collective, lots with LC's not on here, I am prepared to pay whatever I have to for what I want and there are plenty just like me out there.

Glad Norbo can count on at least one customer with bottomless pockets then ! 😂😂😂 As for the rest of us… surely mostly the opportunity for Norbo to sell to us here or in the wider community, comes from the upgrade demand… a NOS part available at a price where you think … ok, I can buy that, sell the one I’ve got to subsidise and have a nicer bike… but I’ve got a threshold… no different to when I bid on eBay… I rarely want something bad enough to just stomp with a massive snipe. the topic Norbo should be concerned about is maximising actual gross sales across whatever time period matches his end game … obviously, high price , low sales volume equals low revenue… very low price, high volume also equals low revenue… so there’s a sweet spot… and that requires to understand the mindset of us the great unwashed not the onetime money no object pro restorers. There’s only a very small number of money no object resto’s completed each year. That won’t made a dent in Norbos stock if he has 150 of something.

Even when i do put them on e bay for the greater community i will do stuff cheaper for people on the forum and if the e bay buyers not part of the forum that's there problem. Im in no rush to sell it all any way im happy to do the odd thing once a month for several years, not looking to off load fast. However i will point out before you get to excited the clock faces are not worth a fortune i may have a load but they are the current ones not the original ones, if they were id vber very excited . however give it 5 or 6 years when they run out and even they will be worth double what they are now .
