Hi - Can anyone suggest a kickstart replacement lever and boss for a 4L0? I bought a repair kit from Norbo and fitted it but the lever is still too loose so I reckon it is worn and wonder what to replace it with as it is an NLA part. The lever is only loose when it is in the 'rest' position next to the engine. Is there anything I can do to close that gap that the new spring & ball bearing is not managing to do? Was thinking maybe get some a tiny bit of metal welded and then file down...seems like an impossible faff! I really appreciate any help on this - thanks

I fitted the one from Norbos trick shop parts to my Yellow peril bike You will need to get the kickstarter shaft drilled and tapped but I like the stubby version Got the same kicker on the Tigcraft project too Best wishes Al

Thanks Al, was really hoping for a direct swap out without drilling n tapping; that said your kickstarts look fab.

Trouble is original units are getting thin on the ground and it’s a nice alternative without looking too different
Good luck with your search Al

verbotten They can be repaired with a bush. Any good machine shop should be able to do this. I bushed mine with brass first time but it didn’t last that long before the slop came back. Did it in steel second time. Jon

A search throws up this wholesaler who distribure pattern kick starts (amongst other things) but it looks like their supply line has run out as quite a few resellers online but all out of stock including the wholesaler, not sure if they will produce any more? I see on ebay that oldparts shop are selling an updated OEM Yamaha one which will be around the £200 quid mark by the time it gets to the UK! As suggested by Jon, getting a bush fabricated is the way ahead and my wallet will thank me www.hendler.co.uk/product/hendler-kickstart-yamaha-rd250lc-rd350lc-tzr250-17mm-spline-234502h

Back in the 80’s when I started despatching I had a Honda RS250 for a while. The kickstart on it snapped one day and I found that the kickstart from my LC fitted and worked. I’ve just had a butchers on eBay for RS250 kickstarts and nothing doing. But it shows other ones will fit. It’s just finding what will.

That's right beardy it will be a standard metric spline size that a lot of the Japanese would use
