I know Johnny will be there, anyone else? Ha ! Yep I will be going on Monday 14th and back 1st September Working with VRS Racing as always, if anyone comes please look us up in the paddock and say hi and have a coffee 👍 As veg says You don’t need a motor bike just a Mt/bike to get around to viewing points local to Douglas. Great night life, plus the Jurby Festival on Sunday I think (will need the bus to get there) Loads of great old race bikes there on display and also on the track fingers crossed that the weather is good As mentioned it’s the centenary this year so should be great 👍 Hope to see a few of you guys there Best regards Johnny C.

I always take loads of photos when there, I have been sending some photos to 2 friends from TT & Manx the past few years. I dont get out of the Paddock much once there, so these will be mainly just in the Paddock, scrutineering Bay and Parc Ferme, and also on the dyno at Slick Performance so these might be a bit boring. I would really need a bit of assistacne to up load as I am rubbish at this on a phone, as mainly use Whattsapp to friends as its easy for an old fart to use. Also we will be a bit busy, with 4 riders and 8 bikes to look after, so wont have time to use laptop as I usually do. Here is a Schedule of events ect But it is subject to changes due to bad weather! Veg as you can see Jurby Festival is on again this year. I Hope this helps Best regards Johnny C.

I am unable to go this year, first time I will have missed it since 2012 (disregarding covid) Gutted, but the way my trip abroad has fallen its too close to the Manx to get the extra time off. Will more than likely be back on it next year with better planning…
Just have to make do with my 9 day bike trip to Spain instead…

The little Mito went home ages ago sadly. And if I did have her I would have given it a go. She's got 33bhp so a bit of a screamer that one. Alex

That would be the 400T not an N. The 400 was quite a decent bike. The 250 was a gutless piece of crap. How they sold so many I’ve no idea.

Tim. Would you ride a Honda 400 Superdream? Honestly now... Alex I had one... bought it cheap from its damp garage tomb off someone at college who'd bought a better bike (Kawa 500/550 or something I think?) a year or so before. I paid what they asked and I think they wanted something like 25 quid, my mind is fuzzy on the subject but either way it was minimal and I had the money and it seemed ok value. I saw it as an opportunity to do some work and trade up. The battery was flat but they said it ran. It was dirty and covered in mould and was returning to nature. I gave it a good clean and did it up a bit where needed and then got an MOT on it and quickly flogged it on. The best bit about it was the 4>1 Motad exhaust... Which promptly melted the big plastic sheet I used to cover the bike, leaving a mess on the silencer when i was getting it running. Ooops. Sigh... The worst bit? frame rust! That was in the late 80s and it wasnt that old... I cant imagine how awful they would be now to restore. Ok, it did ride ok, but wasnt exactly fast or fun. It felt very planted and I could see how they had a reputation for a sensible choice for those new to biking. FWIW I maybe rode it 10-15miles in total... enough to know that it certainly wasnt for me, but I knew that going in... it was a quick flip job to make some money... {spoiler} which I failed at... But... only cos I sold it to a mate. He bought it as his Dad had owned a 250 (my mate took his test on it) and we all had a go on that when we had mopeds and he wasnt around on work trips which was one of our first 'big bike' experiences, the other was a mates GSX250E. Im not sure which was the worst of those two really. Anyway, I sold him the 400n for what it owed me after the work and MOT etc ie at a mate's rate. He taxed and rode it to Scotland and a few weeks later it was stolen. Someone wanted it more than he did lol I bet he got the full market value for it in the insurance pay out, he never said. Ok, it wasnt the best bike Ive ever bought by a long chalk, but I got out of it for what I paid I guess but I should have sold it locally for market value which was at least double what i did get. I realised I wasnt great at the flipping lark... hmm... lol.

Actually I do get the Superdream. A Honda so perceived as a reliable bike for, let's face it, boring farts. Yonks ago on a jaunt to Box Hill we had a new rider on a 250 version, and he struggled to keep up with all of us on LCs. In fact it was so bad when he finally arrived we checked his bike. Chain was flopping all over the place, tyre pressures were so low it was hard to push the bike and no oil showed up on the dipstick.
So we gave him a new name...

I had a brand new 400N in 1982 I think it was. Used it as a work bike for just under a year and traded it in against a GS550 which was better suited to the mostly intercity work I was doing at the time.
The superdream was a good bike in the City but bland and not much fun. I rode a mates 250 version which was truly awful
My first LC came after the GS550…..it was everything the super dream and GS weren’t.

Mirrors not required for an MOT. Neither are indicators but if you have an indicator switch plod get interested. As I once found out.

Rolled up, he looked at it asked about the forks and anti dive, told me to go and have a fag came back got an mot, bear in mind the battery was flat but it would start, at no point did I hear it start so I have no idea how comprehensive it was but it passed.

But, you can just put some tape over the non working switch and the tester is not allowed to pull it off and 'find' and then test the switch. Funny rules, but thems what they is. Not many outside the UK understand that you can also have a daylight MOT, thats a quirk for sure of the UK system. In NSW you need 2 mirrors and everything must work. No mods unless they have been approved by an engineer... yeah i know... lol
