Any thoughts on a suitable steering damper that will fit an LC frame with a GSXR400 front end ?

This will depend on your lock to lock movement and mounting locations..
I need to do the above too & will mock up mounts & then work out the stroke needed to manage along with physical damper dimensions that will suit the mounts.

Norbo used to sell different length NHK dampers. I bought the medium sized one for an Lc with Rgv usd forks, but it didn't allow full lock, so I exchanged it for the longest version which worked perfectly and allowed full lock. I cant remember what the dimensions of the damper were, but could measure it tomorrow if you need it; 20171022_115906 by dusty miller, on Flickr

One question. Why do you think you need one? (apart from the looks that is).

Certainly needed one on my 31k with Maxton RGV forks
Was stable enough on motorway and cruising along 90% of the time but accelerating hard over over anything other than a perfect smooth surface it would get unsettled as the front wheel skipped
Damper on lowest setting sorted it, don't even feel its there

When I used my 250LC for production racing I used to get an oscillation of the handlebars along long straights at about 100MPH (!) I was told it was due to rear spring windup as I was using the stock LC rear suspension unit.
After swapping the unit for a Hagon shock at the time I never had a problem. I used to have a steering damper fitted but having lock stops fitted the steering movement was limited anyway.
Have you thought it might be the rear spring interacting with the RG forks and causing a problem? Just a thought.

I fitted one like this, few years back Very nice! I remember you doing this. I was going to post mine but I didnt think anyone would be really grateful for the pic as most like the simple bolting on of the 'knee killer' version. Of course... These dont take your patella, they remove your teeth instead... well, they will on very modded LCs like yours and mine if you dont concentrate lol We belong to an exclusive club. People said it couldnt be done so I did it, ahh the quest I was on back then to do things no one else had hahha! seems a very long time back now... how time flies. In all the years since I think there are maybe 3 of us with this design so its always lovely to see pics. Im always super glad more people are doing them as there is room to make it work if you like a bit of engineering. They are all a little different. Back when i did mine i didnt have access to much in the way of engineering equipment and had to modify CNC parts designed for other bikes. It turned out well but was a head spinner at times to get something to modify from pics and specs... and guesses! lol BTW I like the edging on the tank front. My bike has a sticker by the rear tank mount that says you have to remove the damper tower before removing the tank lol. Its not there for me. While Ive never idly undone the bolt and lifted the back of my tank up (ie before pulling and sliding it back out out off the rubbers and over the rear mount) and thereby forced the front of the tank to tilt forwards... clonking it on the mount... but someone else would im sure if they worked on it as they'd not know how tight the tolerances are.

To be honest Jon, it wasn’t rocket science it’s just two brackets, one that bolts to the frame the other to the top yoke, I’m going to make mk2 over the winter for my other bike, got a couple of tweaks to make.👍

If i had the facilities I have now with the mates i have it would have been much simpler.
