After 12,000 miles over the last 15 months on the Kawasaki H2 SX SE I have come to accept that the leant forward riding position isn't kind to my old joints. On my recent trip to the German GP I was suffering a bit on 300 plus mile days with my hips and back. Never really had any issues before until the last couple of years but age is advancing After a few test rides I struck a deal with my local BMW dealer on a new S1000XR TE. Lovely bike to ride, lots of toys/gimmicks but it really is comfortable, a 3 hour roadtest convinced me it was a good choice. So deal done I picked the new bike up last Friday, booked it in for its first service at the same time, left the dealership and had a great comfortable, niggle free 350 mile detour home through the Yorkshire dales and Lake district. Really enjoyed the day, comfortable all day, so much so when I got home I felt I'd happily go out and do the same trip again. 20230714_104039 by Rob Bennett, on Flickr 20230714_125827 by Rob Bennett, on Flickr 20230716_144748 by Rob Bennett, on Flickr

Nice bike. I almost bought one instead of my second S1000R but the deal on the XR wasn’t as good. Debated another yet again a month ago but decided on a Tracer 9GT based again on cost. Will have another look and am sure will end up with one sooner or later….

Lovely bike, I had a loaner once and it was mentally quick! 😎

I've had a Gen 1 XR for 5 years now and a fabulous machine. Bought for the same reasons, toured Europe on several occasions in complete comfort. Gen 2 is an excellent choice.

How are you getting on with this bike now after a few more months?
I am quite tempted by the M 1000 XR
