Is there a standard connector type for Elsies? Looking at my wiring loom, I've got about 4 different types of the white plastic ones - round, spade, locking, non-locking, and combinations of that. I'm guessing that over the years people have just used what they had to hand. Some of them are pretty knackered so I'd like to replace with ones that are original or near to original if possible. Any ideas?

Hi
There are different types as standard varying from 6.3mm spade multi connectors to 2.8mm spade, to round moles type pin connectors
Then of course bullets

When I stripped my LC I replaced a number of dodgy and damaged connector blocks and used a new one for the banshee coils. Rob aka 4L04Ever pointed me at these people and they had all the items I needed in stock. kojaycat.co.uk/epages/950000457.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/950000457/Categories/Yamaha_Wiring_Loom_Connectors/RD400 It says RD400 but the blocks are the same as for the LC. They have lots of types in stock, all with pictures for easy identification. I bought a few other things at the same time, inc a proper crimping tool which made the replacement a doddle, and it all arrived promptly and well packed, with each block and its pins in a separate 'pouch' on a sheet of plastic, not just a bag full of parts.

That's brilliant, thanks. They have the exact ones I need.

It's good when you find the items you need 😁 Very much appreciated. I was talking with a work friend about working on bikes, and we were saying how much more difficult it was in the old days before the internet, when you didn't have the collective knowledge of all the experts on a board like this.

You are most welcome sir. I was having a similar conversation with a mate over a tea at the local bikers café, though ours started with talking about JIS driver bits and how back in the day we didn't even know they existed, or why Japanese bike screws had dots on them. It's not just the collected knowledge, there is also the willingness to share it, plus access to a world wide store of parts. Way better than back in the 80's when we read the mags, chatted down the pub and then scoured MCN and Exchange and Mart for parts and deals.
