Hi everyone I’m new to the forum I’ve recently purchased another rd250 lc after 20 years and obviously because of age the fuel tank is poorly it has been sealed inside and the sealer is now coming apart is it possible to remove the old sealer and reseal or a waste of time and a new tank needed many thanks for any advice offered

Hi and welcome back
Personally I'd scrap it and find another good tank
If it has been sealed before I'd assume that it was leaking and god knows how bad the corrosion is. Don't fancy one splitting in an accident
You would have to pay for it to be removed (which isn't always easy), weld up and reseal then have it painted again
If you are feeling flush you could always buy a new body kit with new paint from Mark Cordwell
Second hand good tanks are around and new repro are available from Webike Japan
Do not buy a new tank off ebay unless it says its a Hi Level made one and do not ever buy an Indian one unless you want an ugly, misshapen expensive ornament
