Scary fast. Two questions...are those indicators on the end of the bars and why is his gearchange upside down?

No, not indicators, they are lever guards, to protect the brake or clutch from being snapped off. All race bikes and even trackday bikes have to have one fitted for the brake lever, clutch is optional. The holes drilled in the levers are to let the air through to stop the pressure applying the front brake, really! The speeds are so high now!
Most (the riders preference) race bikes have a race shift pattern, so push down to change up, purely for when they are leant over they can still change up, don't have to get their foot under the lever.

Ah gotcha! It never occurred to me that speed could apply a brake but it does make sense. Cheers Mouse.
