Hi everyone, Looking for advise, my LC350 4LO has just had engine rebuild but has a noise which I can't identify..the bike starts and runs on both cylinders no probs and revs pretty cleanly but has what sounds like a small end bearing noise. Bike is running on premix 30:1 ratio The engine was re-built with all new parts

Could be a number of things without hearing. Has the head been re-torqued after its been run a few miles after a rebuild? Also check that the exhaust flanges are tight and not leaking too.

Check it's not just the kick-start rattling.

A video would help. If you sign onto a Flikr account - loads of info on the forum - you can upload vids as well as pics. Phone mics aren't the best, but it's better than nothing Out of interest, who rebuilt it ? Receipts for parts ? Basically, can you prove the little ends were replaced with good quality alternatives ? Welcome to the forum Dusty

Use an engine stethoscope to track where exactly the noise is coming from.

Use an engine stethoscope to track where exactly the noise is coming from. Or next best thing, a long screwdriver.

Use an engine stethoscope to track where exactly the noise is coming from. Or next best thing, a long screwdriver. Not to be confused with a "long stand" that I was sent to the central stores for, when I was an apprentice in the late 70's. The storeman came back after 30 mins and said "is that long enough", then the penny dropped. F****** T***

The vid was up on Facebook yesterday or the day before, as above I suggested a stethoscope or long screwdriver to identify the location of the problem. Would be helpful if the OP posted the video here as well.

If it's more than 1mm oversize then chances are the piston or pistons are hitting the head gasket. You will have to trim the head gasket to suit the oversize bore....

Check it's not just the kick-start rattling. Riding along one day, on a hill alongside a valley, I heard a wub, wub, wub noise coming from the engine. Instinctively I kicked my knee out and started looking for the fuel tap, then realised there was something much more serious going on. Slowed down and was looking down at the engine as I coasted to the stop, to then look up to see a chinook helicopter flying alongside me about 200m away. Panic over.
