Hi Guys,
I am finally ready to bolt the crank cases together on my rd350r (1995).
Ive got the Haynes manual but it gives x2 very different torque settings in the main text (LC2, N and F models) compared to the text in chapter 8 for the F2, N2 and R models.
In the main text it states Upper crankcase bolts = 7.2 ft/lbs Lower crankcase bolts = 18 ft/lbs
In Chapter 8 it states Upper crankcase bolts = 7.2 ft/lbs Lower crankcase bolts = 5.7 ft/lbs !!!
I’ve tried searching everywhere but can’t find the values for the rd350r. I presume Mr Haynes is wrong (again) and the 7.2 ft/lbs uppers and 18 ft/lbs lowers are the correct values for all models.
Cheers
Jim

Just a thought, is the head to be torqued up in 2 stages?
I usually do it in several stages.

Thanks for the response Chrisg. In the main text it does give lower figures initially to gradually torque it up to the final figure but chapter 8 only gives the x2 figures above. I presume I’m safe to just go with 18ft/lb bottom nuts and 7ft/lb top nuts?
Cheers

The higher figure sounds right
The lower sounds ridiculous
Almost like they have listed the first stage torque rather than the final

Thanks Steve.
It was listed at the bottom of the page so I turned the page over expecting to see the rest of the figures but that was all there was!!! 😬
Mr Haynes strikes again 😳
