Can anyone advise if the rubber 'O' ring in the picture goes in to the recess on the top of the cases, then the cable guide feeds through it? or feed the cable guide through the cases and fit the 'O' ring to the guide from underneath? There wasn't one fitted when I stripped the bike down, so I am unsure which way to fit it. Oil pump

Ive always fitted it to the case, so its on the outside. It would seal the hole from water ingress. I see no benefit for it being inside.

Thanks guys 👍 I also thought it made the most sense fitting it to the recess on the outside of the cases. But I like to check with the experts.

I also checked the oil pump settings after, and the 'O' ring had changed the settings, lifting the cable guide up a little further meant there was a bit more tension on the cable and it was over oiling. Still better too much lube than not enough fnarr fnarr
