As some of you are aware I've been working on an 8 plate clutch conversion for the LC/YPVS/Banshee engines that have been tuned/upgraded for high BHP numbers etc, of which I build alot of these After what seems an eternity, I've finally finished the first few prototypes along with the primary gear conversions (needle roller and 2.53 to 1 ratio), so the next steps are to get some pricing sorted for manufacturing the various parts and putting some on test, initial testing is all good, next steps are to test with lighter than stocxk springs to see at what point they let go and of course heavier springs than stock. The current setup with stock springs is easily holding 80bhp and I've yet to find out at what point it lets go, suspect around the 90bhp figure on stock springs, but I'll see, clutch lever action as expected is nice and light For now, some pictures I'll post more up as and when I have more data/info available

Nice looking job, though that was to be expected with your previous attention to the quality and detail of your parts. Thankfully the EBC clutch kit I got from you has worked nicely, as the original slipped like a trainee ice dancer! though it is a stock tune engine.

Nice job π Interested to see the end price as mine is borderline Steve yeah, its a fair amount to sort out, but I've simplified alot of the design and machining now, so should be cheaper and stronger overall Not many options for the LC/YPVS etc mind, heavy springs, lockup or a hinsen at very big money, I hoping to be able to supply in various forms; 8 plate kit - basket, hub, clutch plates, wiseco cush rubbers to fit on standard primary gears 8 plate kit with needle roller conversion - basket, hub, clutch plates, wiseco cush rubbers, idler gear, needle rollers and bearing sleeve to fit on standard primary gears 8 plate kit and 2.53:1 primary gears with needle roller conversion (fully assembled) - bolt on kit basically They are designed to work with the standard pressure plate, which is what has taken time to sort out, but fixed that issue now, so should be hopefully not long now Just a few jobs to sort out, hard anodising is one of those !, springs is another

Can anyone tell me , are heavy duty clutch springs blue in colour ?? Spring colours vary depending on manufacturer and their designated spring rate.

quick update on this
I've been sorting out retro fitting the 8 plate kit to a stock set of primary gears, I've assembled it on an engine today and its all looking good, I've one more small issue to solve and then I'll be able to sort out getting a few made and for sale, the prototypes I have will be used for testing etc.
I've yet to confirm for sure, but I am pretty sure it will all fit under a stock clutch cover with no modifications as well
The clutch kit will comprise of the following components;
1 x 8 plate basket kit (8 plate basket, cush rubbers, backing plate, fixing screws) 1 x 8 Plate hub 8 x clutch friction plates (EBC) 7 x clutch steels (EBC) 6 x clutch springs (EBC) 1 x .....the fix I've got to sort out !
Price wise its hard to say as the 8 plate hubs are going to be the killer part as I'll need to find somebody who can make them at sensible money
The straight cut primaries are still progressing, but had some delays in the gear cutting department as the compnay doing it are very busy......but they are progressing

clutch now fully assembled with final piece of the puzzle sorted, it all fits under a stock cover as well, so brucy bonus
I've only got a couple of prototypes at the moment, so in the new year I need to find somebody to make the hubs for me, the rest I can get or make in house
Final proof of the pudding is to actually have it tested on a powerful engine and of course to check the clutch lever weight/heaviness when operated
