Going to do something I’ve never done before, now I’ve Tapatalk working again I’ll do a comparison build of the new spangly hasegawa Lc kit vs an old tamiya kit. Just waiting for delivery from Japan and I’ll start it to compare them both. Bear in mind the tamiya kit is as old as the real bike it was launched 41 years ago and the hasegawa one is state of the art. I’ll post side by side sprue shots and side by side build. I will update the tamiya as I go along as I did before.

Ok so ordered last Friday arrived today from Japan. 4 kits with a rrp in the Uk of £180 delivered to my door for £100. V happy. First look it’s just completely state of the art compared to the 40yr old tamiya kit and they are launching a 4L0 in July. I can see a couple of areas for improvement, use a real spring for the side stand, rear brake rod and the throttle oil pump cable, I will represent the wiring on this and I’ll build it in conjunction with the tamiya kit. The only changes I’ll make are to make the seat a Uk seat, and do a Uk colour scheme.

Again old at the top, new at the bottom. As can be seen the new pipes are excellent far more representative of the real pipes. I will start with the motor. What I need to do is spray with my airbrush a gloss black finish on everything other than the bodywork. The gloss black finish is the key to being able to then Spray the metal paints, the alloy, polished alloy, chrome, steel etc. I will as always change a few of the plastic moulded bolts for real steel nuts n bolts.

Now that is a hell of a difference. Especially the seat base. 4 kits for a ton...bloody bargain Tim.

It would make some cool wall art to have these done using old scrap parts.

Some modellers paint the plastic leaving it on the sprue then mount them in frames. Not for me but it does look good, I guess though when you have Hammonds money and space you can do it for real.

He did the same at his biz, The Smallest Cog. I dont know which came first, but he talked about this on the show about the biz as if it was the first time he'd thought and done it.
