Has anyone got any tricks to get the spring retaining plug back in and the clip in place. I seem to need more hands than the two I have,
hopefully there is a neat trick or someone who can point out my stupidity!!

block of wood on your chest and another perpendicular piece to push it down will give you 2 hands to use..

I fit a top triple clamp bolted to the fork and use a socket on the cap and a bar thru the bar clamp to push the cap in.

I like the vice and 2 leg puller. So simple but effective.

I use a large philips screwdriver or a suitable type punch to depress the fork leg and drop the clip into the grove. Can be tricky but is manageable. It is a little bit harder to do with hagon progressive springs. But keep at it you will get it and if you are finding it difficult get a spare pair of hands.

Put the fork leg back into the lower yoke and raise it halfway up between the top yoke. Then get some threaded bar and large washers and nuts and put them through the top yoke and wind down onto the plug 👍🏻

Two legged puller is good too, but i hate gripping chrome legs in a vice, even if using soft jaws...

I did my F2 last weekend and just used a vice with a couple of bits of wood to hold the fork leg, then used a big flat bladded screwdriver to push the plug in and a terminal screwdriver to get the clip in place. It was a bit of a struggle session but I thought it was easier to get the clips in than get them out.
