Thanks mate. I was impressed by the power they put out. Better than headlights on a lot of bikes I've owned!

Is the website meant to look that basic Tim? And it's all in Japanese! Alex quite a few JDM sites look like that and dont translate very well with google chrome etc. Its just cos they are old i think. Quality Works is the same etc.

Strange it’s Japanese but with English on my devices. Bottom of the page it allows you to move onto the product pages.

The next one... There's an awful lot of parts in this kit! I had a look at how the barrels are made and couldn't believe it, never seen anything like this before. So...deep breath and I will make a start... Alex

Made a start. Getting the barrels together was somewhat akin to applying tank decals to an LC...not something I'd want to do again! Used my tried and tested matt black with a dusting of silver to get a nice 'used' engine look. Surprised there's no pistons lol. Next was the head with 10 2mm wide things to cut out, paint and stick on. Lose one and it'll look all wrong. With the head done these 4 chrome parts go on. Less than 1mm round. This is so detailed you can see the crank. Pity it'll all be hidden. More shenanigans tomorrow! Alex

I know mate...it gets worse. So many tiny little parts...like on the carbs... But I like a challenge! Bit wobbly but left that way so I can get them onto the airbox. Oil filter... And now a top tip. When I was working on a different kit I sprayed something satin black but used matt by mistake. I thought if I lacquered over it I'd get a satin finish. Nope, I got gloss black. This is a brilliant thing to discover as painting anything gloss black is a right pain, but matt and lacquer are a doddle to apply. Matt black... Add lacquer... Alex

Thanks Dusty. Rear wheel built and it comes with Bridgestone tyres... Battery is clear plastic, unusual. It's meant to have a black stripe around it so I had to use some decals from my stash. Plus on the instuctions it doesn't mention ones for the battery yet there they are on the sheet. Alex

Amazing details.
Can you paint some thin yellowy paint on the back/inside of the battry to look like the battery has fluid in it?
Then you can make sure the fill level decal shows the battery is full etc?

I could Jon. Thing is, this part like so many highly deatailed others, will be invisible. The only way you could see it is by removing the seat and a side panel. I do love the attention to detail but have to wonder why?

ahh ok, weird... but then I used to paint the seat the pilot sat on when I made aifix kits... its not an 'issue' I need a shrink for, either want things right or you dont lol

Yep that’s my problem. I end up wiring my bikes, replacing all bits that don’t look right etc. I’ve currently got the following on the go 2 X 350 Lc, katana/gsxr special 2X z1000, mvx250, rg250 and 2x yzr500 I really need to stop super detailed stuff and just build them.

Wow, just discovered this thread, outstanding work going on here. My last attempt was a crappy dog fight double back in the mid Seventies. More glue than paint. How do you get involved and educated with this pastime? No more Humbrol and brushes by the looks of your examples?

Use pegs, elastic bands or you can buy proper modelling clamps. The other thing to do is use normal glue but put a couple of spots of super glue. The spots set quickly which allows the normal glue time to set and harden.

Yes mate, I use clothes pegs! But it can be a bugger to line the engine up.

Yep, it was worth it Jon. Did a little more today, frame now all glossy. Then added a couple of parts... Then the bit I hate. Wobbled and jiggled the engine till it sat perfectly in the frame. No glue, a dry run first. Glue time. Headstock first. Alex

Success! The rear light is made up of 4 parts...and 2 of them are orange as this is clearly aimed at the US market. A sharpie pen fixed that. Also the number plate mount, all wrong. So I made one. Rear shocks waiting assembly... And the forks needed the chrome removed from the lower parts... You can't really paint over chrome! Alex

Hi Alex nice work there. How did you remove the chrome on the fork legs without doing any damage to the details?

Bleach or oven cleaner. Mask the areas you don’t want effecting.

What Tim said. Mudguard light and number plate all on. The light is the same as an SS50. And no doubt a load of other Hondas! Alex
