Hi, I am looking to modernise the front end of my F2 Powervalve by changing over to USD forks. I want to keep the twin front disc set up. RGV front ends are getting very hard to source, so I was wondering what other options would work. ZXR 400L is an option, but what about something more up to date? I've seen some hybrids being built with GSXR front ends and they do look good. Any advice or recommendations will be gladly received. Cheers

What do you plan for the rear end ? Ideally you would match the rear wheel to the front, design wise. Rear ends are usually more involved than fronts. Dusty

I changed the back end over to a YZF R125 swing arm and wheel, with a R6 shock. That all seems to work quite well.

Would you not fit a Yzf125 front end to match the rear ? I know it's a single disc. I always think mis matched wheels never look right on a bike, but each to their own of course. I dont know if other twin disc front ends match the spoke design of the 125 ? Dusty

I have thought about it but I'd rather stick with the twin disc setup if I can. Another potential issue that might be tricky is the clearance between the fork tubes and the fairing. I'm hoping that someone has already done the mod on an F2 and can give me a good heads up. Cheers.

I have a single 320mm disk with R6 4 pot on my LC/TZR hybrid. Apart from the lack of symmetry with a twin disk setup, it is more than capable.
I was told by someone that knows about racing that this weight saving on the unsprung mass was a good advantage assuming the forks were braced.

Hi, It was quite straight forward really. I made 2 top hat bearing inserts for the swing arm bearings so I could use the standard pivot shaft. For the shock I made a braced top mount to weld in between the frame rails and 2 plates to go from the bottom cross member to the drag link bush. I can send some pictures when the bikes back together if you like.

Jon Having two discs doesn't significantly increase the braking force available, it just shares the heat and the wear over more disc/pad. With the correct sized master cylinder, a single disc should be just as good, especially on such a light bike.

Jon I like the idea of this, my twin R6 setup is a bit brutal (grabby) for the bike in my opinion.

Hi. I am looking to do this conversion at the moment. Wonder if you would be willing to share details of parts you have fabricated. Thanks in advance

I’m also in the midst of a 125 hybrid conversion.
I’ve got some great help from the guys on here.
Happy to pass on what I’ve learned.
