My running and riding LC has shown clutch slip when given the beans, obviously Yamaha is the go to for crucial parts but what other manufacturers clutch pkates would the Brains Trust be happy to recommend?
I’m in South Australia so no guarantee I can source aftermarket locally but I can always mail order.

Lots of clutch plate info on here for uprated EBC and also to use plates from the bigger yams of the era etc.
Dont buy clutch plates from yam, plenty of others out there... cruzinimage do a nice cheap set and I keep meaning to give em a try.

Hmm, Cruzinimage I’ve never heard of. Will look them up.
More to the point I’ll price up EBC.
Thanks chaps.

I've just learned there is a 25 plate clutch that has been made for Banshee's. I don't know any more info than that.

Can anyone confirm this code, I'm going to need new clutch soon, and I'm keen to get an EBC one that fits. Many thanks in advance.

The EBC DRC043 deffo fits a ypvs as I've used it before
Now given that the 4l0 clutch basket superseded to the 31k basket and they both use the same 1A0 inner boss I'd say it fits LC too

I've used DRC043 in Pv, Lc and Rd400 engines -all fit fine although you may need to ditch the rubber rings. Clutch pack "height" is correct though.

the DRC043 kit fits 250/350LC's, 250/350 YPVS/RZ's, RD250/350 and 400 A/C, and of course 350 Banhsee quads, you need to ditch the rubber rings between the plates as the fibres are wider than stock Yamaha, but the fibres and steels are the correct thickness and therefore give the correct stack height, which is very important. The kit comes with 6 15% heavy duty springs, in most cases you can either run with stock springs if a stock bike, or 3 EBC springs and 3 stock springs if the bike has been tweaked/tuned, I've run engines with 70+bhp with 3 EBC and 3 stock springs with no slippage
You can also get a carbon fibre high performance kit, which is even better, but they cost around £100(ish), instead of the £78 for the DRC043

Just curious. In which way is the carbon fibre clutch kit better? Does it have a longer life or less chance of slipping. Obviously it sounds 😎

I have just fitted a set of TRW plates from wemoto. Working fine in my F1.
Also used Gecko plates in a 4L0. Seemed fine, but didn't ride it much before it was sold.

I did wonder how forgiving carbon plates would be. I’ve read carbon brakes work well at high speeds but not at low speeds. Makes me think carbon discs and plates are more for the track?

TRW plates are good as well, I get them sometimes too, TRW are actually LUCAS, so you know its decent stuff, price point is a little more expensive than the EBC plates though

Would highly recommend the EBC plates for an LC (got mine from Dave @ Mutts as well, fibres and steels) It used to have a powerband 1,500 rpm wide before the original clutch would give up and slip (6 to 7.5k rpm). Now it holds on right up to the redline without issue. Fitted 3 x uprated and 3 x std springs and can't say I've noticed a heavier pull on the lever.

To be honest I just want the full steel plates. I feel because there is no filter for the gearbox the carbon particles can wear the rest of the gearbox out quicker. What's your thoughts or experience on this? I've tried them from a dirt digger set and they work great but I took them out because of thoughts of wear.

I think the steel plates in the DRC043 kit are the same dimensions as the OEM steel plates.

I always put an EBC DRC043 kit in as it's all new plates and steels, you then know it's all good in there. You also get in that kit 6 x HD springs, use 3 HD and 3 standard unless you've arms like Popeye and stick with 6 standard if they're like Olive Oyls....
The rubber rings, if they're still present, have to be ditched, but as I see it that's no bad thing as they can break up and bits get everywhere, so it's another potential hazard deleted.
