Hi all, as I'm the new owner of a 79 125dx and awaiting delivery of a Haynes manual I thought I'd pick some knowledgeable brains on here to hopefully get some idea of what the problem is. It starts 1st kick every time, rides n runs ok but hasn't got the crisp pulling power it should have. Here's what actually happens... start up, warm up for a couple of minutes, ticks over ok, choke operates really well, pull away and it's a bit 'wooly'.. not crisp if you know what I mean. In order to keep good pace I have to take it north of 7500-8000, in top gear on the flat it won't pull cleanly as I wind on the throttle, if I gently wind it on it's almost as if the engine 'needs to catch up' with the throttle! While it's doing this it's hesitating and holding back. If I drop a gear and hold WOT it hesitates a bit until it catches up and 9000 is reached ... then it gives a hint of pulling cleanly. By that time it's run out of usable power and I have to go back to 4th and rev it hard to get it to the point where it can be put into 5th. As I haven't got the manual yet, can someone give me a detailed carb setup procedure, I've counted the 'half turns' of both sets of screws and they were all over the place, 2.5 on one side 5.5 on the other and so on. Would be great to have a base line to get it to run cleanly. Anything else I would need to check ... points, timing, leccy stuff etc. Thanks for any advice and input.

Go to www.aircooledrdclub.com/Become a forum at least member, then you can download a genuine manual and a parts list, both invaluable. The manuals are in the tech section, when you click on this link you will see the tech section icon, click on that and scroll down to manuals, click on that and select the ones you want. "ALL" the manuals and parts lists have errors, so check if in doubt with forum members when something doesn't seam correct, most of the errors have been found and someone will know.
