Hi Currently restoring a 1989 TZR125, bought a couple in bits and hoping to create 1 good one!
Ive had a frame and some wheels powder coated already, i'm now looking at the engine and wondering how to get it looking something like, any suggestions?

Nice, needs pics so we can see what you're up to ideally.
The answer really depends on what you want to end up with and how much you want to spend.. Strip down, de-grease, vapour blast, painting etc should give you a good result although also depends what you've got to start with being a good sound base..

If you get it vapour blasted you might need to wipe it over with ACF-50. I don't know how it will look after that, but I decided to use wire wool and polish on my cleanest cases for now. I also bought a Soda blast gun and a bag of Soda but my Compressor is too weak to do anything better than clean crud off.

Is it a Euro spec model or derestricted? They can put out some serious oomph for a 125...

I was hoping to not have to out source this but it looks the most likely outcome!

Picking the exhaust back up today, had it blasted, repaired and then ceramic coated.

A trip to KP Motorcycles in Leeds over the weekend revealed that one of the cylinders I had was beyond help. It could not be bored out any further so I had to use a different one. The guys at KP were really friendly though and extremely helpful. Off back today with another top end for them to fettle for me.

Incredibly the second cylinder I took to these chaps had been there before! Date stamped by Kev above the exhaust "KP 97". A mere 25 years ago!!!! For some reason I liked this fact, feels right in a way.

Did the bezel a different colour to standard, not entirely deliberately, can't decide if I like it or not, kind of grown on me! Untitled by Keith Tiplady, on Flickr Paintwork coming along Untitled by Keith Tiplady, on Flickr
