I will Jon but it's hard to get a pic that shows it. Meanwhile...a start on the hood. It took a while to get the press studs in as every time you fit one you have to take the hood off to hammer it home. But so far so good. One stud simply won't rivet in, I can't get my tool at a decent angle to fit it so a self tapper will have to suffice for now. It looks a bit loose but when I pull it from the windscreen end it all gets nice and snug. Gonna finish it off tomorrow... First one goes in... Then the rest... And the remnants lol... Alex

The hood is on! A few minor tweaks are needed and a bit more riveting but for a first attempt I am very happy. Apart from one thing. There are 3 channels that need to be riveted to the frame and that holds a rubber seal across the top of the windscreen. My rivet gun won't fit in the narrow channels, so I went inside to search eBay for a suitable one. Nope. Came back outside 2 of the channels had vanished! I searched everywhere, even tried the SEP method and looked for something else instead, hoping they'd pop up. Gone. Bummer. Alex

Weird huh? They could have had my phone, Zippo, tobacco or all of my tools but no...
Unless. My place is like the fekkin Bermuda Triangle. For example, I'll be sitting down working on summat, (and this usually involves a 10mm spanner I might add), I put the spanner down to pick up a bolt, turn back to the spanner and it's gone. Search everywhere and nada, so I order another one and when that arrives the missing spanner will turn up. I suspect now I've ordered new parts the missing ones will appear! Also ordered a new windscreen top and boot hinges...it's only money.

Finally the windscreen rubber seal is in. I was using Fairy Liquid but it dried too quickly. Was tempted to use oil but a friend suggested coconut oil and it worked! I also replaced the pancake filters for the original as she was running a bit lumpy. Looks like the Triumph lads and a few on here knew their onions! And then I plonked on the new boot hinges. Much smarter now. Alex

Yeah not going to worry about it now. A MOP might sort it. If not a bonnet and boot blow over.

Not too much to report on Lora. But almost every day (when it's not raining) she goes out for a blat. It's just so much fun. The noise, the fact that you're sitting 2" from the tarmac, the way she handles...the memories from my youth come flying back at me. And I still get the usual questions that range from 'I had one and I'd love another' to 'Is it for sale?' and my fave is 'That is a fantastic car. Is it an MX5?'
Sheesh.

Alex Too funny, Its like when people see you on an LC and say 'I had a Honda Superdream just like that one...', er it says 'YAMAHA RD350LC' in huge letters on the side of it mate... lol I was in a GR86 today, nice and low... not Spit low tho:)

A balmy 5c here today and not 4 as I suspected. But the roof stayed on! After not moving for a week she fired up second turn of the key (I do like electronic ignitions!) and off we set. A nice drive through some countryside on B roads, occasionally nudging 70 and throwing her around corners. These cars handle amazingly well. The heater works superbly too, pull out the heating knob and turn on the fan and it's nice and toasty inside. One niggle to report is that the clutch fluid has gone down. I've been keeping an eye on it so I need to get a repair kit. It's leaking from a seal somewhere in the master cylinder. Hey ho. Plus it was so cold my dials misted up! Alex

The master cylinder on my clutch in the landy leaked very slowly for about 6 years before i fixed it. I kept putting it off bercause i knew i would wreck the copper pipe fitting if i had to loosen it. When the clutch action started to get a bit vague this was the sign to fill the fluid resevoir up again. It looks like you might have the same problem with your fitting. I just love toggle switches ad knobs you can turn. A few weeks back i had a new hire car and i hated it, as lots of thing were touch screen etc and no handbrake only a button. It wouldn't go faster than 150 kmh on the pedal, but on the cruise control set to 200 i managed 190 kmh (autobahn)

Yep I love a 'proper' dashboard! The Triumph lads say it's cheaper just to get a new master cylinder...yet there are so bloody many out there and I'm not sure what one is best. None are actually Girling though. So I've asked what they recommend.

If I was you Alex, I would replace both the brake and the clutch masters as they look similar ages. At the same time you can fix the paintwork under them as the fluid has been killing the paintwork there and it'll be rusty under the lifted paint for sure.
I redid this area on my Spit back in the early 90s and it wasnt hard, you might also buy a new brake and clutch line kit and you can then just cut those old ones off and rather than bend em by hand like the DPO you can roll them around paint cans and other things in your garage to get a much nicer and more OEM look to the pipe runs. Copper pipe done DIY really does look 'DIY' if a person didnt spend a bit of time fitting it sadly. You can also buy a cheap pipe bender from Aldi when they have them in stock as well, works a treat.

Well, the Triumph boys suggested one and I've ordered it. A very reasonable £33 delivered. Last one I ever bought was £200+. I hear what you say Jon but the brake one works fine and I am trying to keep costs down on this little baby. So for now this will do. I won't be fitting it myself as it's too bloody cold and I think this is best left to the pros. My local garage is very good and charge £30 an hour...so this should cost £30...

Funny thing happened today. I was at work and fitting a custom door frame. Finished cutting the wood and got my box of screws to start putting it all together. I noticed something odd. The two channels that I assumed had gone walkies were in the box.
This is not possible. When I put Lora's soft top on, the box of screws were on a shelf in the workshop with the lid on. So the question is...HOW did they get there? Poltergeist? Cue the theme from the Twilight Zone...

You need to change the cars name to Christine (I'm sure someone will get the reference)
She wanted new parts so she made sure she got them 👻😱

-1c today. Sod it, I thought, Lora needs a good run out. Checked the clutch MC and it still had fluid in it so I donned my flying jacket (I look like Biggles from that famous novel Biggles Flies Undone) and turned the ignition key. She started first turn! I was gobsmacked. Had a good drive about, so good I had to stop and fill her up, then went to the local coffee shop to discover the High Street was closed as they are having 'Big Tree Night'. That's basically a normal sized tree with fairy lights on it, some t**t turns them on and about 4 people go 'oooh'.
And my new MC arrived. Looks a good bit of kit and I may do as Jon suggests and get the brake one as well.

Finally a dry day! And sunny. But bloody cold. No matter, just wear more layers and drop the soft top and go for a drive. The clutch MC still had plenty of fluid in it too lol...I really need to go get that done though. I did the usual drive and ended up at the coffee shop to meet some friends. I think today was a record for Lora. Never seen so many people stop and gape, some walked around the car twice oohing and aahing and then taking photos. Maybe I should start charging them for this?

Another glorious day here so cue the music and lets get out in Lora. Shock horror! NO clutch. She's going to get this issue done on Wednesday but how do I get her there with no sodding clutch? The MC was empty so I filled it up, again, and left the lid off and after some frantic pumping action (no jokes please) the clutch worked again. Note I am parked in the electric cars only section. Bugger 'em. But it is Sunday and on that day any car can park there... Alex
