Cheers matey! The wheels are standard Triumph fitment, as is the rest of the car. Why mess with perfection? LOL

Next time I'll get some pics of the famous Monty Python fish slapping dance. It was shot at the lock keepers cottage at Chertsey.

After a quick Google search I have discovered the fish slapping dance was actually filmed at Teddington Lock. And that has made me a bit excited. My mum used to work there for Thames TV and I do recall happy days being on TV and film sets, meeting the actors and so on. So I suggested to Zandra (yes, her) for her birthday we'll motor over there in Lora, get some pics then find a place for some dinner and a drinkie or two. I'll have water. Honestly lol.

Free parking by Udney Hall Gardens in Langham Road, if you can find a spot. 2 min walk to the Lock from there. As with most of the London suburbs, you have to pay or be a permit holder otherwise

Cheers Dusty! I have made a note of that. I'm looking forward to this. I hear there's a plaque on the Lock about the slapping dance lol.

ps Z said if we re-enact the scene I'm the one going in the drink...

Yesterday afternoon I was vacuuming away when there was a frantic knocking at my front door. Was my next door neighbour Nickey, and she'd just seen someone hit Lora! The driver doesn't even live here, he's round the corner but he saw Nickey staring at him and knew he'd been spotted. The front bumper is twisted and beyond any easy repair and even if it could be fixed it'd need chroming too. Very expensive. Anyway this berk comes shuffling over to me (60+, fat and a pikey too) and I told him what he did. To his credit he did own up to it, saw the damage and said he'd go get his insurance details. I did tell him a new bumper is about a grand. So he comes back and says his wife (who was with him in the car and staring down at my Spitfire as it rocked all over the place according to Nickey) says to do a cash settlement. Hmm. No insurance maybe? So I got his address and made sure he did actually live there and found the cheapest new bumper. Actually it's for the front and rears but I'm not telling him that. And yes it's a smidgen under £1000. I shall pay him a visit tomorrow for some dosh. w**ker.

No Dusty. On the right of my house is a drive that goes around a corner and there are six static mobile homes there. He's the only dodgy one living there! Saw him earlier, told him the cost and gave him the details of how to order it. See what happens I guess. If he doesn't come through then it's an insurance claim for him, assuming he has any. If he mucks me about I'll just call 5-0.

I dont know how these things work - maybe Tim will have a better idea, but maybe worth logging the incident with your insurance anyway ? If you go to them in a week or two's time should he not come up trumps, it wont look good from your side surely ? Hope he does the right thing, but a few days down the line he may become more beligerent, especially when faced with a large bill. Hope I'm wrong but do the right thing from your side. And dont count on the Police - they have more pressing things to deal with unfortunately. Hope you get it sorted mate Dusty

Don't notify the insurance until it goes tits up
Have this issue with my company car
Car gets bumped in car park, nobody admits to it
Company only has third party insurance but you have to notify the management company who record the incident
Car gets repaired, company pays up and no insurance claim
BUT
There has been an accident logged in my name (wasn't even in it, car not owned by me but I am responsible for it) so I have to declare it on my own car and bike insurance 😡
All because someone couldn't park
And I now have a stream of claim handlers calling about my "accident" 🤬
Steve
On another note I was round at a mates place when he got a call about an "accident" and the lovely girl on the phone is telling him he can claim compensation for his injuries
Call didn't last long as he enthusiastically welcomed a payout then said he didn't remember much about the accident or his time in hospital as he was drunk and off his tits on coke at the time 🤣

I’d give him 24 hours and if he hasn’t paid you cash report it, the delay is easy you’ve been busy. Any longer than that he’ll start chipping you. Yes you’ll have an accident against your name but at least the motor insurers bureau will pay you out. Your insurance company will go for him and the old bill will possibly get involved. Don’t waste your time if he pisses you around he will carry on. Get a photo of the damage to his car as well, as well as recovering any parts left at the scene no matter how small.

Im with Tim on this, dont let it drift. Anyone who tried to leave the scene and wants to go the cash route will have experience in getting away with it, you dont.
Im sure there is a law about leaving the scene of an accident, I know there is here and also that its taken seriously and people get fined, licence endorsed etc.
Time limit for folding is what is needed if he wants to go that route.
He can pay for a bumper now or let the insurance handle it. Who is to say there isnt more damage thats hidden behind the bumper. yeah i know the spit is pretty easy to see all round but... if its messed with a bonnet mount or twisted the whole bonnet structure then it could get really expensive at a mechanic/bodyshop etc.
I learnt many years back here* in Aus that youre often better involving the cops rightaway as its gets everyone's details out in the open and all get breath tested etc but that horse has left the building of course.
I was hit one night while stationary at traffic lights by an uninsured driver who didnt see the lights and kept accelerating from the last lights. My exhausts and bumper were in my rear suspension and i was pushed into the car in front. My saloon car was actual feet shorter with the back and front stoved in. He hit me so hard his BMW E36 headlight was still bolted in but pushed up to his windscreen. He was stoned and yet wasnt fussed and was going to drive his car home. You need the cops at accidents sometimes.

Got a note through my door when I came home saying the exhaust is under my car. And sure enough there was a very long parcel there. Unwrapped it, saw the invoice and yes he'd ordered what I suggested and paid almost a grand for it. Front bumper, check, over riders, check...hang on. Where are the rear bumpers (he had paid for them). I wondered if they came in another box but there was a load of space for them in the original one. Hmm. Maybe Paddocks forgot them? Unlikely. Then I looked closely at the box. He'd unpacked it, removed the rears and then taped it up again with tape that was a shade lighter than the original. Sneaky. But, then again, he only had to supply a front bumper. I wonder what he'll do with the rears?

Or make a cheeky offer? You’ve done home a huge favour. He’d have been potentially done for leaving the site of a non injury RTC not exchanging details or reporting it within 24hours which have increased his premiums given him points etc.

So...it was sunny yesterday so I thought I'd get the new bumper on. The old one came off easily enough apart from the final bolt but a bit of WD and job done. Now...trying to fit a bumper on your own ain't the easiest task in the world and about an hour later I had 2 of the central bolts in place and the thing could hang there on it's own so I could put in the remaining bolts. Nothing lined up. I couldn't figure it out then it started raining so I undid the 2 bolts and put the bumper away. Today I had a closer look at the front of the car. There are 2 over riders (part of the chassis) and the left hand one is bent. Dammit. I can fix this with a blow torch and lump hammer but I shouldn't have to. I'm getting some pictures and inviting this Andy bloke to come and inspect his handiwork he accomplished with his f**king Kia. It's gonna cost him for sure.
Alex
ps and to top it all off on Friday someone left 3 nasty grooves on the drivers door of my Yaris. Brilliant.

Oh no!
I think its easy to forget how modern cars are ok with a bump as plastic bumpers bounce back or pop out of their clips, but on old cars its all bolted tight and immovable - from the old school idea that it had to be solid.
