Been having trouble with fuel (very little) seepage from join of float bowl to main carb body. Float bowl does not have a raised area (as body does) for pushing onto the gasket - don't know if this is correct or is it only on the body side. Have checked bowl for being straight and that fine, new gasket (from Norbo - so gen Yamaha) used, but still have a slight weep from joint (cylinder side - obviously only notice it after engine run and putting finger along the seam). Any ideas or is there a sealant that I can use to just smear onto the gasket?

if you are using a new gasket you really should have no issues , it takes very little to nip up the float bowl to keep it tight
have you checked to see if you have a hairline crack anywhere along that part?
also you could reverse the carb bowl's around , choke side to right side vise a versa let it fill and see if you still have the same issue
just an idea

Thanks for reply - but, have issue on both carb floats. I have looked at the carbs (as they have been completely cleaned and rebuilt) and did not see any cracks at all - just feel that I am missing something stupid and can't see it!!

float height correct ? 21mm + - 0.5
if you were to remove them do you have the float bowls on the correct carbs ?
choke side bowl has the pick up hole in the base.
did it leak before , what changes did you make ?

Measure float height with gasket removed.

Needle valve could be slightly passing fuel so carb keeps filling until at gasket level, then seeping slowly through.
Bike could be leaning more than standard when on side stand and leaving fuel against the gasket join?

Both carbs were taken off (again) because after original rebuild had the seepage - rechecked float height (without gasket), float bowl for straightness and no nicks on alloy mating surfaces etc. Bike always upright even though do have side stand never leave the bike on it. Will probably take them off again !!! and go over them
