Ok so I know blue spot R1/R6 calipers are a good upgrade for keeping standard discs but a few questions. which year models or are they all the same? I also here other Yamaha ones will fit NK brackets and are cheaper. Also do you have to use master cylinder or can you keep original cylinder?

I think that the later types, fitted to fazers onwards look the best. The earlier ones (Thunderace etc) have an external pipe at the bottom. As far as I know, they all fit the same. How much do you want to pay – I have a set of blue spots in the ‘for sale’ section. I used a master cylinder off a 600 fazer, mainly because the one on my Lc needed a rebuild anyway but I believe the Lc ones work ok?

I think the later gold / silver spots have stainless steel pistons whereas the blue don’t.

I think the later gold / silver spots have stainless steel pistons whereas the blue don’t. Blue - mild steel & often rusty pistons. Silver - Reputed to be stainless, I had one on my TDR, was definitely mild steel and rusty. The stainless replacements for blue spots fit fine. Gold - Aluminium, and very thick walled. I have one on my valve. A nice solution to the rusty piston problem.

This is something I’m thinking about. Where can I get the adapter bracket?

With the original master cylinder and R1 blue spot calipers it felt wooden to me. I sourced a good used R1 master cylinder with reservoir off eBay for $50.The brake feel is perfect, and it stops good now.

They’re not cheap, any alternatives? Got some gold spots coming😁

I'm using a TDR master, but then again I only have 1 disk. 320mm, it's a big one & more than enough for 1 finger stopping.
