Just taken my clutch basket off and noticed that there is no half moon plate retainer holding the bearing in the case. Is this ok as I’ve noticed there is a bearing retainer clip that goes on the bearing and holds in place to casing casting. It shows this retaining plate on parts diagram but don’t seem necessary if bearing retaining clip is present?

I always fit them. Still available new from Fowlers (4L0 17471 00) - £7.70, or someone here may have a spare. A bearing retainer is fitted on all Rd's from aircooled to R, so Yamaha must of thought it worthwhile to fit  You often find them missing, or cut, on race bike engines as it was quicker to separate crankcase halves without the bearing retainer in place Dusty  |

I always fit them. Yam wouldnt have added this if it wasnt needed.
