Dont know the answer to your question I'm afraid, but I've seen a post from Gibson Exhausts tonight telling of changes to the law regards chroming, coming into effect this June. To give you all an update of the chroming changes that are being introduced in June this year. You may or may not know that new regulations come into effect from June 2022 on how chrome plating can be done. Without going into too much detail (of which I don’t really understand either). This is like what happened to painters when they had to go to water based paint. Our platers have done trails on the alternative plating method and tests show it is just not suitable for automotive parts. What they are confident of is that they will be one of the very few companies in the UK that will be granted a licence to carry on plating automotive parts as they are now. The only issue is as everything this comes at a price. They have been warned the cost of the licence and materials to carry on could cost them as much as 100% more! Not good for them and of course this cost will have to be passed onto the processes they do. So, we are braced for a huge price increase. We will of course keep everyone up to date with what is happening. The good news is nothing will change until June. So, if you’re thinking about a set of chromed pipes this year, get in before the changes to chroming happens. That would make a pair of Allspeeds not far off a grand !! Dusty
