Hi all
New here so saying hi you all looks a great forum
I’ve got my self after many years of saying I’d never be able to, a RD350 ypvs 31k barn find, thinking I may have to find someone to do the rebuild on the engine forks and rear shock, any ideas from all you experienced rd owners where I should look I’m in Leicestershire market Harborough and keen to get on the road but a long refurb infringe of me…. I’ll be posting pics along the way on here as she rises from the ashes
Michael

Hi Welcome to the forum Engines are simple enough with only a couple of specialist tools needed. Lots of help on how to do it too, so you can save yourself a few quid ! Forks too are simple enough. Rear shock - I would replace with a YSS - miles better than a standard old shock, with far more adjustability, and probably not a lot in it price wise over getting a refurb on the old one - not sure if the original is even rebuildable ? Anyway, enjoy the forum, and dont be afraid to ask ! Dusty

Welcome aboard Mick and you chose your bike well.
I hear what Dusty has said and it is fairly straight forward to follow posts and uTube videos about stripping and rebuilding an LC engine, but there is still a lot to be said from some assistance from an old hand who has done it before.
It's difficult to assess if bearings are worn, seals are gone, cranks out of balance, gears worn, selectors past usable date, bores/pistons need doing, clutch on way out, gear shaft worn too far, which screws are bitches to remove, something too tight/loose etc without the experienced eye so my suggestion is to try to engage with someone local who has got an LC ticket, otherwise you can pay a fortune and replace everything, or go other way and cut an unknown corner and end up with a noise/leak/vibration you regret.
Bit long winded and hope makes sense. As Dusty says lots of help on here, and I have tapped into lots over the years. Enjoy your build, and maybe start a build thread in resto section as that's a good way of getting advice and encouragement. We love pics too!
Shaun
