A bit of advice, i am stripping the flywheel and rotor from my air cooled 350 Yamaha engine. The generator comes straight off but i don't have an extractor to remove the rotor from the end of the crankshaft. It looks as if it's a 10mm fine thread but can anyone confirm what the tool is to remove this? It does look as if the first few threads have been butchered at some time (no not by me) but just trying to remove it without damaging thank you.

The usual ’tool ’ is the rear exhaust hanger bolt. Fine pitch. The parts list would confirm that bolt size and therefore the thread of the rotor. If you are taking the engine apart, it’s also possible to proceed with rotor in place and remove it from the crank one both are out of the engine. That’s a little bit easier as you can get some warmth and vibration applied from the back. If you are removing simply to fit an electric world kit or something then obviously that’s no help.

cheers there, don't have a hanger bolt but checking on the yambits site and they list a cross extractor to suit and the thread is listed as m10 x 1.25 so will get a bolt from evil bay to use. Don't want the expense of an extractor as will be replacing with electrex ignition system. Many thanks for your help.

Think you can use rear top engine mounting bolt, at least that's what I did with my rd400c

i don't have that either, just ordered a couple of high tensile bolts from evil bay so hopefully sorted.

Sounds like someone tried using the wrong pitch screw in it at some point. Someone has used M10 x 1.5 set screws to fit the footrest plates on one of my LC frames at some point. You could almost admire their determination to fit something despite the fact they are the wrong thread but keeping going until they do.
