I have some manky handlebar switches left and right and was wondering what switches people have used as alternatives as I’ve never been keen on the look of standard switches anyway .

Most people just refurbish the standard ones. You can make most others fit, but you have to take into account that the right hand switchgear on an LC is also the housing for the throttle tube.

I fitted F1 switches on my 4L0. Not for the looks though. I fitted an F1 engine and to me the easiest way to do the conversion was to fit the entire F1 electrics including the switchgear as well so I bought the whole lot off the same bike. I have another set of switchgear that's maybe off an F2 YPVS but I'm not sure. That switchgear has big coloured buttons. I'm sure most of the LC/YPVS switchgear would fit with a bit of connecter block changing.

a little bit of know how with what wires do what from original to the alternative set you want to fit and of course the plug end will need swapped to fit your original loom , ive used some f2
switchgear which a friend wanted on his 350lc but rubbed them back to the alloy finish which are really nice , all comes down to your preference of what looks right for you

The wiring diagrams show the connections for the switches and how they work (ie red switches to brown etc) so its easy to swap in and out switches.
Steve, thats only one way... I have F1 engine in my 251LC and its just the engine, I made up some very small connections to meet the LC.
People seems afraid of electrics but i think its just they need to learn. Looking at the wiring diagrams for half an hour and tracing wires will soon have you understanding whats going on with switches and other parts. compare the two bike's diagrams and most of it will be the same as both are yam. Fitting something from another brand will take a bit longer and be more involved.
Take your time and write out on a sheet of paper what wires you think go to which and then sleep or make a coffee/tea and come back and look at it again. Once youre happy then make the changes. Chances are it will be fine. It is quite simple as its all just colours...
