Police already have the power to do something under a VDRS Vehicle Defect Rectification scheme, once issued you have 14 days to change your vehicle and get it assessed at an MOT centre, as well as seizing nuisance vehicles etc etc etc How often does this happen? Police are struggling to cope with everyday crime and Road policing has taken a back seat. When was the last time you saw a traffic police officer? Not a highways wannabe, not a civilian sat in a camera van but a white cap wearing yellow backed rat? If they do anything and it is an if, they’ll crack down on popular roads to throw a bone to the dog of Nimby’s complaining then it’ll revert to normal, they’ll also have to encompass cars including super cars, classics etc etc as they can’t discriminate against one road user so you’ll end up with more annoyed people than bike riders. Yes living in the countryside it’s a constant irritation hearing dayglo derek and his mates screaming the arse out of their gszrrxx yamsukwahonduc but no more than spotty seb and his hot hatch, or having the pseudo posh hunt trashing the place. Yet more scare tactics from MCN

What a t*at he is, i like radio 2 except for him, for me he represents everything bad about the BBC, he is pompous and opinionated (when i think they should remain impartial) and clearly absolutely ignorant of anything vehicular! I think he thinks he is the next Paxman, though he has neither the intellect or wit! Yet, his brother is i think very funny. Sorry about that! When his show is on i often change station, but happened to catch it today! Mouse

What a load of crap
Are we supposed to be worried that as automated camera is going to take a picture if your exhaust is too loud?
Would like to know how a picture and a decibel reading proves where the noise is coming from
How long before some one parks just behind the camera and revs the nuts off a noisey bike every time an electric car passes 🤣

Let them put them up! Stand behind them, out of camera sight and make a brum brum eeeeeeeoooowwwwwwwm noise into its earpiece everytime an Audi or BMW goes past. C£££s Mercs as well...and electric cars. I would pay cash to see those battery driving, self-righteous get a ticket for noise...........

Already live in France Some Uk guys on Harleys got caught out in France as the limit there is only 70db so got a 40 euro fine for exceeding this limit I guess if you are in a group you would be safe as the system cannot pick out an individual bike But for the Harley boys there was a cop further down the road and pulled them all in and gave them a on the spot fine so being used more like a sped camera with a cop further down the road to determine who broke the 70db limit I presume using a sound meter Oh and if you don’t pay the fine, the bike is taken to the pound there and then

no idea how they are going to rule on vintage/historic vehicles, think of old british bikes and the likes, they where loud from new, so what are they going to do, say quieten down to what it was when new - they will spend more time in court arguing with vintage/historical vehicle owners than anything else and what about those vehicles that you can't get OEM replacement exhaust systems for, you have no option but to go for after market, I suspect they will end up saying vintage/historic vehicles are exempt I like the idea of hiding a sensor at the side of the road attached to a loud speaker with an exhaust tone looped to it, everytime a vehicle passes/even cyclist, it sets the camera off !

Yes I think up to 1977 there were no regulation what so ever regarding exhausts and after that year British standard and the government started to get involved But this below document seems to state exhaust regulation was started : bought from April 1983 onwards so if that was the case historically vehicles should be exempt publications.parliament.uk/pa/ld200304/ldlwa/40525wa1.pdfIt make an interesting read as on reading it states this So anything up to April 1983 is exempt as I don’t think you can make legislation bought in from 1983 retrospective and table two shows the history of the legislation and that dates each new requirement was made so happy days for most of us I hope

Almost like when in the mid 90's they stuck a speed detector and a big digital sign at the side of the road that flashed up your speed and reg number to embarrass drivers
Used to put a list of the worst offenders but not legal so couldn't prosecute
Imagine the scenario. We'd meet with some colleagues in a city centre hotel for a catch up.
"Oh I need to pop out and pick something up, can I borrow your car as mine has no diesel in it"
Take his company car and rag the sh1t out of it past the camera for him to see his reg posted up on the way home 🤣🤣🤣
