Hi, thought I'd post a few pics of my nearly finished hybrid. Been building it for about 10 months, just wish the weather would clear up a bit to finish it. Still got the belly pan and rad guard to fit, also got some other switchgear to paint up and fit and sort the choke out. Can't wait to get it out on the road. This is the bike I bought after passing my test in 1988, sold it in 1991 then got the bug again last year when I turned 40. Found the chasis on ebay and could notbelieve it was my old one so couldn't resist buying and rebuilding it. Also still to fit the Hagon shock and S/Steel tuning fork retainer for the clutch window that the wife bought me for Crimbo - well it's better than a pair of socks. Now itching for next project, got a 1 previous owner frame and matching number engine that I fancy doing as a N1. Might end up selling it, don't know yet. Won't sell the 31k ever again. Steve.

Bit of an update, sorted the choke, bloody float bowls on the wrong carbs. Starts great now.
Glad I didn't paint up the switchgear, now got Lc2 loom and electrics to fit so will paint those up. Also got a NOS clutch lever to replace the bent one. Just trying to source a jap import rev counter, it has a red warning light in it which I will use as the oil light allowing me to fit the L and R indicator warnings on the N2 clocks.
Still not decided whether or not to fit the Lc2 bikini fairing, got a set of kidney bean clocks to go with it.
Naked or faired, what do you think?
Amazing what you can still get nos, picked these up the other day
Trim around bikini fairing Trim around tail unit Lc2 trip knob Damper between clocks and fairing lc2 clock screws

them pipes look nice, are they much louder with them cans compared to the standard f2 cans? Not sure how loud the standard ones were as I built the bike from parts. They sound nice, straight through stainless perforated tube as opposed to the plates and tubes in the origionals, still very new, only run for about 30mins so far so the packing is still full although swear it is louder than when first started. Can always take the packing out and re do the rivets if you want really loud. They are from NK racing, he also supplied the flanges. Doddle to make up, there was a thread on here I gave the details in. Steve.

Post man came today, nice pair of small can gibsons. What do you think, not common on ypvs but couldn't resist them. Still got to fit the ss ypvs chain adjuster plates and nuts. Belly pan would be on if the rad was not weeping. Steve Attachments:

And the other side. Might go for a set of kenny's on other hybrid instead of the converted F2's that were on this. Steve Attachments:

Going for the stealth look so VJ21 front and rear on an R chasis. Will start a thread soon on it. Powder coating done and NK swingarm kit, will build as a naked N2. Lugs all removed and head stock modded for steering stops and lock. Forks taking ages at philpots, nearly six weeks. Steve.

I had the same problem with Philpotts, great job they did but took over 8 weeks to get done. I prefer the Gibsons on it, looks much tidier with the rear arm conversion...Great job mate

That's a very nice bike The 31k paintwork, the black chassis & the RGV running gear really go well together In my opinion, I don't think she needs a fairing or belly-pan, the bike has really clean lines as it sits now

Bikini fairing not painted yet so would cost money, would have to fit the Lc2 clocks which don't look as good as the N ones. Sometimes I think the red frame is a bit garish, black looks better. Picked up a grab rail for it from powder coaters today, satin black so will see how it looks. Still got to sort out a set of N clocks to go with the LC2 loom and electrics I've got for it. All this and the 2nd one being built, don't know what one to work on first. Steve.

Started with FZR 600 clocks, fitted RZ 250 import rev counter, used the speed light for oil and moved lenses about and replaced original red with another amber. Modified Lc2 clock loom for more clock lights and power and signal to elec tacho. Started stripping the switchgear for painting then I'll be able to change the loom over. Steve. Attachments:

Started a second one already but wanted a more standard look so using rgv VJ21 back and front. Had so many bits left over I had half a bike. It's on here under one step forward, two back. Up on it's wheels now but spending most time now sorting the LC2. Stripped off the electrics yesterday ready for the clocks, switches and LC2 wiring. Attachments:

Wouldn't mind getting it dyno'd but not many places in Scotland. Don't expect it to be hi revving, had a set of large cans on it when I first owned it and would'nt rev past 9000 but the rev counters are known to be very innacurate. Did also have microns on it, bad flat spot at 5-5.5 but would rev to 11 but got fed up with it eating rings. Motor is ported with airbox snorkels removed and upjetted so should be lively especially with it geared for 100 flat out. Steve.

midlifecrisisrd can i ask who do use for your powdercoating on your frames looks a real nice glossy finish! after mine doing but undecided who to use The frame on this one was powder coated when I bought it so don't know. Get my stuff done at P and J powder coating in Glasgow, nice and shiney and very tough, some coatings soft and easily marked/dulled. I always put old bolts in all the holes and blank any bearings/tolerance areas with large washers. Last YPVS frame and half dozen brackets was £80 so well pleased. Steve.

Lost the final finished picture in the recent crash so posted back up. All mot'd and legal now, surprised by the power delivery, when I first owned it with large cans on it the powere died at 9000 but revs all the way to the red so better than before. Better get my finger out and finish the second one. Steve.

How did you get the anodised finish off the forks young man Forks were already polished when I got them but other stuff I've had done is a combination of vapour blasting and sanding before polishing. They look good but not so good for maintaining, need buffed every couple of months. Steve

Thers not a lot you can do its just about perfect as far as I can see, Thanks but tell my bidding finger that, now aquiring engine bits. Motor mildly tuned but looking to eventually built a more powerful motor. Just can't help myself, not enough time for the second one never mind start something else. At least I finally decided to keep it naked and sold the clocks and fairing to stop me changing my mind. Will eventually fit the twin horns though, also still to change the tank for my perfect one as decal has a crease in it. Steve.

As said before you never really finish them, just fitted a set of Tarrozzi rearsets from Norbo and a billet kicker from legend as well as a NOS gully seat as an early Crimbo pressie from my wife. Now got a set of Tokico six pots for it and a Fazer 1000 master cylinder to get away from the RGV one with the remote res and no mirror bracket but still got an adjustable lever. Steve
