For me it was a tiny pizza restaurant in Milan. I went there as a courier so we are going back to 1983! Sold a massive slice of pizza and a large beer for about 2500 Lira (so £1 back then). Best pizza I have ever tasted. The beer was tasty too!

Difficult one. Most satisfying is prob when everything on the plate is grown, shot, or caught by my fair hand or even foraged Foraging gives me a kick. So many are totally isolated from reality. I have been abused because of my interests...by the very same people who think NOTHING of eating meat that has been killed in an intentionally cruel way..... I think is hugely import to respect what's put on a plate in front of you, it had to die for your enjoyment..... and most of all...if you are the cook, try your best to do it justice! I brew my own wines and beer now, so I would love to have an everything on the plate and in the glass by me. One of the best in a restaurant, was guinea fowl. And chippie visit, was one in Pontefract....many moons ago. Drink? Sancerre. Tequila. Artisan beers, Mead, Absinthe. Whiskey and Whisky...... the list goes on and on, but you get the drift. My advice with drink is.... dont waste "alcohol points" on cheap piss... If you cant tell the difference or have no sense of taste...you are quids in. Would of easier to say can of fosters and a big mac..... but a couple on here know my sarcasm,,,,

Had some Matsutake/Pine Mushrooms foraged by a friend here in Oregon last week. Grade A of this variety can go for over $1000/lb in Japan. They were fantastic with rice, shoyu and mirin, but def no $50 a bite

I forgot about Welshman's caviar. Laverbread, Bara lawr. I'd never had it before, so I bought a tin. It sat in a cupboard and every time I came across it...I erm... had reservations... Until I said sod it. Had it with a full english/scottish/welsh, in oatcakes and also as it came straight out the can, warmed up. Well my reservations were unfounded...loved it! Now can only find one producer that cans it and cant find it fresh anywhere, nevermind anybody who serves it in a fry up breakfast with c o c kles.

I am a bit of a foodie, doesn’t have to expensive just good quality. This is my ethos as well. 110%. Ive been lucky to have eaten some amazing food all over the world and would struggle to compile a list, let alone pick my 'best', I think that might also depend on what i fancied the day you asked me as well. The trick is to look for somewhere the locals go (and often queue for) and also to research before you travel, that way you dont get a dud meal. Some notables... - Sushi in an out of the way tiny family run shack just behind the Tsukiji Fish Markets in Tokyo, but also in a large restaurant above a department store just off the famous crossing. - Various USA BBQ joints... plus Boudain and of course Crawfish boil as well. Im a huge fan of the South - Cerviche in a tiny family run restaurant in a dodgy area of Phoenix, between the gun and ciggie shops - Various Lebanese and Xi-an eateries in Sydney, plus Yum Cha of course... The Eight in Sydney is my current fave for that - Ramen... so many good ones, current fave is Gumshara in Sydney for their black garlic tonkotsu, thick strong and unctuous - Biryani at Student Biryani (huge Pakistani chain); cheap, very tasty and plentiful - Mexican in Las Cruces that I cant seem to be able to find again... I went back 2 years later and looked lol. - Also roadside tacos in Mexico while travelling through... developed a taste for Soupa de Lima in Merida lol its like dishwater, but somehow i loved it. lol - Korean... wow... love Thai but this is better. "KFC" is nice, but im not a grease fan, prefer buldak ('fire') chicken, a local pub has a korean implant rest that does a great one, it burns! haha - Rava Masala Dosa... multiple places, simple and great... similar in ethos to Roti canai as well, only ever get freshly made of both. - The food courts (not like the ones you think of ie 'in a mall' lol) in Singapore that are a bit out of town so mostly locals. The stalls are usually based on one meal but done superbly, some are michelin starred! - Indian at Mela in London, now sadly gone... Was a great little place. Their Lamb chops... OMG! - In 'n Out burger... blows all the others out of the water for me, tho I am a fan of Milos if in the area where they are. The USA has more burger chains than you can ever imagine... - Ivor Dewdney Pasties, traditional of course, in Plymouth. We did a taste test of all the ones we could find a few years back. ID was a clear winner. I could go on...

Fish & chips at Beamish museum Co Durham, beer batter on the fish & fried in beef dripping in coal fired friers, absolutely worth the 1 hour 20 minute queue to get them, going again next year for more.

My dad has always fished - more than seventy years so far - and around the mid-80s he managed to get on the list for the salmon season at Galway which meant one morning session and one evening session on the river each year. A good few years running he brought a salmon home that he had caught that morning and we would have it lightly steamed, either on its own or just with a few vegetables. For flavour and texture there is nothing like fresh atlantic salmon. Beautiful to eat and almost impossible to buy these days. He stopped killing them around the early nineties because the numbers were declining so quickly and anyone lucky enough to get a session on the river there now is encouraged to catch and release to try preserve them. Late 70s on a family holiday on Mull my dad, brother and I fly fished for sea trout on a loch - there had been heavy rain the previous day so the trout were fresh out of the sea and really good to eat. A couple of years ago we stayed at the London Marriott County Hall which is opposite the Houses of Parliament across the river. Sunday lunch in the restaurant there is the nicest I've had and reasonable at £25 for two courses. £375 a night for a double room though, so swings/roundabouts I guess

Too many to list really... I love my food, from street stalls through good pub food to fine dining. Most memorable meal I ever had was in a random taverna on the Greek Island of Evia. Sardines off a hotplate followed by char grilled Octopus with a Greek salad, washed down with some Greek wine and shared with my beautiful wife to be. Was a perfect day. That said... everything I've ever eaten at Rickys in Noosa has been pretty epic!
