Use 3 LC springs and 3 TZ750 springs (actually the same as XJ650 springs), new Yamaha plates.

Get the EBC DRC043 kit. Comes with new metal plates, wider fibre plates and slightly uprated springs :-)

The wider friction plates is one thing but then it is best to have steel plates that are completely round. Originals have some steel part cut out. The segments on the EBC frictions when added up give more area than the segments from Hinson frictions. You can also get Kevlar or carbon fiber material friction plates. I am using carbon fiber plates in my 95 hp engine. They came from Barnnet and they are called the dirt digger kit for the banshee. In a normal tuned engine I would just go for the Kevlar frictions for the FZ. Beware the steels from these kits are too thick. 2mm I think. One other thing to think about is the minute friction partcles from the Kevlar and carbon friction plates. I have tried to find out if they are more harmful for the other gearbox components but have yet to get a good answer on that question.

Wider plates from one of the bigger bikes as has been said and then fit brand new OEM springs... all your old springs will be out of spec, I g'tee it. you can fit the old 3 HD and 3 OEM, but all new OEM will be fine with bigger plates and give you more clutch area with the same pull.

I've fitted the EBC DRC043 kit with no issues
Stack height was perfect
Comes with slightly stiffer springs too

Stiffer springs are good exercise for wanking grip.

Yes I don't like heavy springs.
After all the messing about with clutches for my Bakker bike I prefer standard spring pressure and try to mod the rest to suit the springs and engine output.

When using the EBC kit, do you fit the original rubber cushion rings?
