A bit of a positivity kick back to all the helpers on here.
Hi All,
Not posted much, busy summer with the wife n kids n other excuses....and not being a big poster.
So, after following the superb "how to get a nova" thread and "how to register an import" thread, I managed to get a huge boost in enthusiasm in an ongoing project that had sat neglected in my over full garage of unfinished projects.
I bought a box of bits from a localish bloke, a German import LC frame and ypvs bits, he asked for help on here and found it unsurprisingly. mak595 went to see him I think, and posted pictures for him and the forum found out what he actually had, it wasn't what he wanted so he ebayed it, which is where I found it. Turned out he knew my older brother and his group of friends.
Anyway it was unregistered and not on the NOVA. I bought it last year, pre lock down. Already butchered for a ypvs swingarm. I messed about with it and thought why am I messing about with this, potentially spending thousands on it and it hasn't even got a reg.
So I got a NOVA number last year, using the brilliant thread, no certificate given, just a NOVA number.
So in May this year I think it was , I thought f##k it, let's try for a reg with a V55, it's 40 yo, I may not need an mot. Sent in all the docs, as per the thread, a printout of the NOVA email stating the number and a cover letter, hand written. 6 weeks later log book pops through the door with a W registration! Made up!
Frame and odds and sods now at the local powder coaters and enthusiasm is renewed.
Full of bravado I thought I'd try my luck with a recently acquired NSR250 rolling chassis. (In a recent PS mag). Initially I only bought it for the wheels and swingarm. But I thought hang on this is a beautiful piece of engineering from the same period as a ypvs, bet a pv motor would fit in here. Tried a "no result/no charge" registration finder on ebay, he came up with a reg. I applied for a V5, 6 weeks later H reg plops through the letter box.
Now all I've got to do is build the costly bast@rds.
So to all on here, thank you.
Thank you to those who have posted their help in the "how to" threads that I have used and those who 'just' post, whether its showing what they're building or doing, or just passing their knowledge on to others.
It is said again and again how helpful this forum is, and it bloody well is!
Thank you all, carry on.
Stef.
